Last Spring I purchased not one but two slip dresses from Target. Check out last year’s post here. They were that good and I assumed it would be a one and done experience. As much as I like a slip dress, I like wearing a regular bra more and most have very thin straps. But lo and behold, they brought the dress back this year in my signature color: PINK! Don’t worry, if you are not a fan of pink (I still like you BTW) this dress comes in 5 other colorways.
Style a Slip Dress for Spring
The cut of this slip dress makes it a favorite of mine because it’s a great length and skims the body without hugging anywhere. Of course the bra situation is such a bonus too!
As we move into Spring and warmer temps, a slip dress would be great for Easter, bridal showers, baby showers, graduations, you get the idea, right? This dress is from Target and I am wearing it in a small – I’m 5’5″ 130 lbs for reference.
Even beyond the basic dress, which is certainly pretty on its own, it’s so versatile! I’ve got multiple ways to style a slip dress for Spring. If you weren’t a fan before, I bet you will be soon! Just in case a dress isn’t on your radar you can get the same look with the skirt version here.
Multiple Ways to Style the Slip Dress
If you aren’t a fan of showing too much skin, or if the temps aren’t quite warm enough for bare shoulders, wear a Half Tee under the slip dress. The Half Tee is an excellent option because it adds no bulk at the mid section and stays put. I have a code to save you 20% off your first order, it is KELLYANN20.
A graphic tee worn with the slip dress is a great, casual option. Tie it at the waist and wear it with flats or sneakers for a cool girl vibe! I knotted the graphic tee in the back with an elastic band and tucked it under.
Another way to wear this dress is with your favorite button down tied at the waist. I like the collar flipped up too – so sassy!
I love dressing up the slip dress with a blazer, tweed jacket, and my liquid leather biker jacket too! My blazer is old and from Express, my tweed jacket is a few years old, and of course the biker jacket is new from Clara Sunwoo. I love the way each jacket changes the look of the dress.
Accessorizing the Slip Dress
It didn’t take much to accessorize this beauty! I kept it fairly simple with my necklace and earrings from Amazon. My Teddy Blake bag (use my code TBKellyann30 for $30 off a bag) is perfection in pink and of course I wore my pink and white bangles from Canvas Style. I cannot wait to wear these all Spring and Summer!
Final Thoughts on the Slip Dress
The slip dress really can go anywhere and do anything, can’t it? I love it dressed up but of course it’s super cute casually too. Although I haven’t shown it here, I think cute flip flops and a denim jacket would work too. Bottom line, you probably own all the completer pieces to make this look work, do you own a slip dress?
