In the last few weeks the heat has really set in here in Florida. We’ve had several days of 90+ degrees. It may not be quite as hot in your neck of the woods, but you’ll still want to dress for the heat when it arrives. One of the best ways to do so is to pay attention to what you’re wearing – not just the styles but the fabric content.

Staying Cool & Stylish in Natural Fabrics
Only recently have I come to appreciate how much more comfortable I feel in natural fabrics like linen and cotton. I’m trying very hard to avoid polyester and I’m finding myself actually taking the time to look at the fabric prior to placing a clothing order – I feel like an actual grown up woman!
I feel certain that price was the major reason I wasn’t so picky about the fabrics I wore in the past. Thank goodness there are retailers like Quince who are now offering all natural fabrics at affordable prices! Quince also offers free shipping and returns for 365 days so you can certainly shop with no risk! I’ve had great luck in the past with linen and linen blends from Old Navy and JCrew Factory too.
Linen
The perfect jumpsuit for summer in my humble opinion is this square neck 100% European Linen number! It has adjustable shoulder straps and a removable tie at the waist. You could add your own belt to change up the look. The pockets are a nice feature too! Dress this one up with a blazer, or sweater or layer it with a Half Tee for more coverage. The legs are wide without being too wide – essential in my opinion when you’re trying to stay cool. This comes in 10 colorways and sizes XS-XL. I am wearing a size small.

If you prefer separates over a jumpsuit, then you’ll love these 100% European linen pants! They have an elastic waist and pockets. They are just under $40 making these something I think everyone needs in their warm weather wardrobe! These linen pants come in 12 colorways and once again, sizes XS-XL. I am wearing a small.
Long sleeves in hot weather seems counterintuitive but when it’s linen it’s breathable and comfortable! I bought this shirt a few years ago from Quince and since it’s a great classic style it’s one they always carry. I’ve worn it so many times and it washes beautifully. Not a fan of black? No worries, it comes in 14 other colorways! The price is right too at just under $40. I am wearing a medium in the shirt but it comes in sizes XS-XL.

The linen pants dress up easily with a linen blazer and cotton tank. I just love how chic these neutrals look paired together! I bought this linen blazer a few years ago from JCrew and it remains a favorite purchase for this very reason – it elevates ant look so easily!

Cotton and Cotton Poplin
Cotton poplin has a slightly stiffer drape than cotton making it appear a little more crisp and polished. Whether it’s cotton or cotton poplin, one thing is certain – the fabric is breathable and comfortable in the heat!
The midi tunic dress from Quince is made of 100% organic cotton poplin and it is perfection! This dress has a great sleeve length and a relaxed fit and timeless design. I love the collar and of course the stripes. It comes in 5 colorways and sizes XS-XL. I am wearing a small for reference.

The tiered cotton maxi dress is one that could be worn for so many occasions. It’s so easy to dress up or down. If you need a dress for a wedding or other event this one would be great. This dress has great details – a v-neck, short sleeves, and a cinched waist! This one comes in a total of 14 colorways and sizes XS-XL. I am wearing a small – and for reference I am almost 5’4″.

A linen cotton blend offers the best of both worlds! This dress feels incredible on – the fabric is sturdy and doesn’t cling anywhere. It’s lined and swingy – definitely a great way to stay cool and stylish in the heat! I am wearing an XS in this dress it comes in sizes XXS – XXL. I bought this one a few weeks ago and it appears to be selling out quickly, maybe there will be a restock.

Don’t Forget the Accessories
Cotton and linen will keep you cool but don’t forget the accessories if you also want to look stylish! When it’s hot I like to go a little lighter with the jewelry. Raffia, straw, and cork compliment natural fabrics like cotton and linen perfectly!
I hope you saw something you liked today! You might be surprised that I didn’t share any shorts. I wear my fair share of shorts but I do find myself reaching for pants and dresses more and more. I find them to be cooler, especially when I sit on either a leather or vinyl seat. Sticky, sweaty legs no thank you!
All of the items I shared today I purchased. I placed a huge order with Quince (well huge for me!). I liked everything I bought. But I only kept the linen pants. BUT I do plan to buy the other pieces – probably one each month because I am trying to figure out which colors I really need. That’s the good thing about shopping these elevated basics, they are timeless and always available.
