Happy Friday, friends! Today I thought it would be fun to share my January purchases with you! Since January 1 I’ve kept a running tally on all the clothing, shoes, and accessories I’ve purchased along with how much I spent. The point of this exercise (which will become a monthly feature) is to help me see how much I’m spending and what I am actually purchasing. If I receive any clothing, shoes, or accessories from brands I’ll be sure to share that as well.
Contemplating setting a yearly budget helped bring me to this decision. After all, I have been talking (almost non-stop) about my closet purging and doing less with more, this seemed a logical step. Of course there’s nothing like declaring your intentions on the internet to keep oneself accountable, amiright?
What I Spent
My January purchases totaled $284.60. I purchased eight pieces in total and do not regret a single one. Something about writing it down makes me think twice before completing a purchase, much like journaling when you’re dieting! The money I am spending is from blog income (including any paid promotions I take part in, money I make from Poshmark, and from donating plasma (yes, you read that right – I sell bodily fluids for money and I am A-OKAY with that!).
My first January purchase was the black, slit leg pants from Target. I first shared them here. With my red card and Circle discount I paid $26.88. These were a great purchase! I am wearing them in a small but they are fully stocked and come in plus sizes as well!
The second purchase was this pair of JCrew pants in olive. In December I purchased them in khaki and liked them so well I knew I wanted another color. They were on super sale and I paid only $20. I LOVE them!
Stopping in Target one day led me to my third purchase of the month, this long sleeve black tee for only $10. A great basic piece that will work for quite some time in my wardrobe for either layering or wearing alone.
This Sofia Vergara bodysuit was the fourth purchase. It is only $9 on clearance and I had no idea I’d like it so much. I highly recommend it. I wear a small and the fit is spot on.
Hi! My name is Kellyann and I am blazer obsessed. I added a final blazer (for cooler months anyway) to my wardrobe with purchase number 5. This toasted pecan beauty from Express. With a discount for MLK Jr. holiday weekend, I paid only $72. I’ve fallen in love with the quality blazers from Express and know this one will go the distance. It’s an investment piece for me.
Another MLK Jr. sale event got me. I’ve never purchased anything from Everlane (that I can remember at least) but an item on my wishlist appeared and the sale price urged me along. I bought this blue oxford and paid $59. Again, this is a little pricier than my usual haunts BUT I am committed to getting what I want the first time rather than settling on a less expensive version only to find myself replacing it later.
Last Friday I made my final purchases for the month. I had a $5 reward at American Eagle and while I was planning to let it go unused (who am I??) I found the perfect pair of jeans. Jeans are one of those items we need multiple pairs of; different styles for different events and occasions. It’s harder than I expected to find the cut I wanted without rips, tears, of holes but these were only $39.99 and fit the bill. With my $5 reward they came to just $37 (I ordered online and picked up in store).
The final purchase? These white pants from Loft. I believe they are identical to the black ones I’ve owned for years. These are a wardrobe staple for me. With my $5 reward and a flash sale I paid $51.62.
Before you go…the bracelets I wear all the time are on sale! Use code BEMINE-30 to save 30% sitewide. I LOVE these bracelets, they make a fun arm stack and there are so many gorgeous colors available!
Thanks for stopping by today! I wish you a warm and wonderful weekend!
