Trying out a new trend can be a little scary for those of us at a certain age. Will we be judged? Are we trying too hard? Will we look foolish or silly? Slit leg pants are a trend we can try and enjoy and I’m sharing some tips to style them. I’m taking the guess work out of how to style this fun trend!
Slit leg pants have been around for several years. In some cases the slit is very long – up the entire leg and stopping near the hip. Over the years the slit has become shorter and now it’s ankle high. Now that’s a trend I can get on board with
My slit leg pants are from Target. I have my friend Nanette, to thank for this find. She shared them on IG and I immediately followed her link and completed my purchase! Since this is a trendy item, I was more than happy to find such an affordable option. The fabric is lightweight bit not so thin that every bump and lump shows. I ordered a small initially and then a medium. I am wearing the medium in these photos but I ended up keeping the small (you can see a photo in the small at the end of this post). Bottom line: they run TTS and they are long. Size up if you want them to look more like a dress pant with a looser fit.
Look # 1 Slit Leg Pants & Silk Blouse
For the first look I decided to pull out my silk blouse and go for an elegant look. A layered necklace and classic black pumps complete the look. See? Slit pants can be used in place of a pair of regular black trousers.
Look #2 Slit Leg Pants & Cardigan
Slit pants work well with a cardigan whether it’s a traditional one or a more cropped and embellished version like mine. I am wearing this bodysuit under the cardigan. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – bodysuits are a great base layer. No bulk, no worrying about tucking, they stay put and smooth things out.
Look #3 Slit Leg Pants & Blazer
Well, if you have been following me for any amount of time, you know I have a major love affair with blazers! This one is from Express (via Poshmark). I still love my Walmart version but realized while going through my closet that I really should have purchased it in a small rather than a medium. Of course I came to this conclusion almost 6 months too late and it is not available any longer. This one from Express is heavier so it won’t be one I can wear year round like my Walmart blazer. So, I’ll keep both.
A blazer never disappoints. If you are considering trying something trendy, here’s a tip: wear it with something more classic and traditional. It’s a nice way to step up your style game. Keep it classy, elegant, and sophisticated with a little edge!
Look #4 Slit Leg Pants & Turtleneck
Take a look at how I wore my slit leg pants with my favorite cap toe pumps. Note: this is the size small in the pants that I mentioned earlier. I think you can see the difference in the fit. The slit provides a great opportunity to show off fun shoes!
Thank you to all who linked up with us last week! This week’s featured blogger is Avec Amber. I could not get over how cute this beauty looked in her cozy layers!
