Another week has come and gone! This summer seems to be whizzing right by. Here’s hoping it was a good one for you – it has been for me because my school has been closed and I have been on break! My husband took a few days off and we had friends in town so we got to do some touristy kinds of things. Today’s post is a bit of a round up of favorites from July 4th.
July 4th Favorites
While it seems a bit silly to do this after the fact, I didn’t even put up the first decoration until last weekend. Who knows? Maybe this will inspire you for next year. I kept the decor to a minimum and just added a few accents here and there.
July 4th Decor
Like in my dining room, and it drives me kind of crazy when the table is not centered underneath the chandelier btw. Anyway…my plates are from Dollar Tree and I found those paper circle things (not their proper name) on clearance at Kohl’s last year. I love them – whatever they are called!
Since we entertain outside we hung our flags by the pool. I am really pleased with our new seating out there too. It is so much more comfortable than what we had previously.
4th of July Food
Since it is so hot and humid here, we don’t enjoy grilling on the 4th. No one wants to stand over a hot grill! So I made Lisa’s recipe for the best Beer Braised BBQ. It was delicious as per usual and as per usual I did not snap a single photo of the food.
This Confetti Corn salad recipe is always a hit! The good news too is that if you have any vegan guests, they’ll love it! Our friend’s son’s girlfriend is vegan, she liked it so much she took some home!
Our menu included all kinds of yumminess – mac and cheese, calico beans, corn on the cob, dips, and a blueberry – lemon chiffon for dessert. No one went home hungry, that’s for sure!
4th of July Fashion
I spent the day in my swimsuit – specifically this bikini since it’s blue and white. I wore my red earrings. How did I manage not to snap a photo is still a mystery to me. I wore this cover up – it is my very favorite!
With the 4th of July comes lots of good sales! If you subscribe to the blog by email, then you received my message about the Vionic sale – 30% off and free shipping! I purchased these slides in black and love them. Super comfy and perfect for the pool and beach. But definitely cute enough to wear out with shorts or a casual dress as well.
Ignore the need for a pedicure – I am hoping to get one today! Also? I apologize for the foot photo, they ain’t pretty but they work!
We went to the beach late Wednesday afternoon and I wore this swimsuit from Anne Cole. It was an investment but is on sale and let me just say – it is worth every penny! Right now it is 35% (code CABANA35) off making it a great deal! I have this top (in a 34DD) and this skirt. I love that this brand is size inclusive – shop the whole sale here.
July means sales, literally everywhere! A few worth noting: Anthropologie X LTK, Prime Days, and of course the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Here’s a bit about the Anthro sale that runs until 7/9. For the first time Anthro has teamed up with LTK – the affiliate many of us use – to offer 20% off when you use the code: ANTHROLTK20 at check out! Here are the things that caught my eye:
Prime Days and the NSale overwhelm me a bit. I did go through the NSale catalog as well as the website and I have rounded up what I think is worth purchasing but you can preview the sale here. I don’t go crazy during this sale but there are a few things I am hoping to get.
