With Christmas Day less than 2 weeks away, let’s answer the question of what to wear. In fact, this week I will be sharing outfit ideas for the holidays on Wednesday as well. So fear no more, you’ll be the most fashionable gal come December 25th!
We go to church on Christmas Eve and then to my sister’s home for a big dinner party. Truth be told, I love Christmas Eve more than Christmas Day. So much anticipation and excitement abounds! Our extended family comes as well and we eat delicious food, enjoy one another’s company, sing The 12 Days of Christmas (and other songs), and dance. My mother buys all the kids matching pj’s and we take photos of them. We have so many from over the years and it’s fun to see how they’ve all grown and matured. This night is the party night – you’ll see my outfit on Wednesday.
Christmas Day is a little more subdued. Now that my boys are grown, they sleep in and that is a gift – truly a perk of a having older children! I make breakfast and presents are opened. Then we head back over to my sister’s house (she has the youngest child and we hate to uproot her from her toys). Dinner is far from casual, but it’s a smaller, more intimate crowd. My goal is to like festive yet comfortable – and I have found THE OUTFIT to make this a reality!
The Outfit
While shopping in Target on Thursday afternoon, I stumbled upon this beauty. Well, stumbled upon if you call beelining it to the women’s department from the grocery section but I digress. I noticed the color and the shine first and foremost. Why Target did not have this predominantly displayed is beyond me but it caught my eye nonetheless.

I love that it’s two pieces, the pants are pull on and the fabric is satin (polyester). It is available in 4 other colorways in case pink is not your thing. The pieces are available in plus sizes as well so it is size inclusive. I bought both pieces in a size medium. I’d say these pieces run TTS but I wanted a bit of an oversized fit and that’s exactly what I got.

A two piece outfit in a solid color is chic (remember last week?) and so versatile! Not only can these pieces be worn together but they’ll make great separates as well.
The Look
Our weather is very mild and there’s no need to bundle up. I’m planning to wear these comfortable shoes but boots or another closed toe option would work too.

I’ll be wearing this stunning statement necklace from Made in the Deep South. These one of a kind, vintage pieces are a favorite way of mine to add extra interest to any outfit. The sparkle and shine is perfect for Christmas Day!
Other Ways to Wear the Separates
The two pieces are just stunning together but also hold their own separately. The shirt is long enough to work with a skinny legged pant or even leggings.

The wide leg pants would work easily with a sweater. Since these pants are baggy and loose, be careful to pair them with a more structured or fitted top. That advice does not hold true with the matching top however. When the two pieces are the same color and fabric you can go a little more relaxed on either the top or the bottom. The monochromatic look keeps you from looking sloppy.
