Can you really wear a dress two different ways? The answer is yes, you can! I am loving the fact that a button up dress can serve multiple functions. The key is in the buttons, once unbuttoned the styling world becomes your oyster!
Remember on Monday when I shared this dress worn over my black denim and white camisole? I told you then that you’d see it again and today is the day!

My Experience with Wearing a Shirt Dress Two Ways
The first time I tried this was in spring. I was attracted to this pretty blue and white print but quickly realized the dress was more comfortable worn as a duster. I received so many compliments wearing it that way that I decided I’d keep my eyes open to other dresses of this nature. It’s a fun and unexpected way to style a dress!

Corduroy Shirt Dress
It’s hard for me to decide what caught my eye first about this dress; the color or the cut. It’s a beautiful shade of adobe pink – and is made of the softest corduroy. The elastic at the 3/4 sleeve is a fun detail because it gives a light puff and of course I love the pockets! It came with a belt but I didn’t care for it so I left it off.

Because of the beautiful color, I felt turquoise accessories were in order. Turquoise really works with every color but I think it pops when paired with a pretty neutral like this dress. My slouchy boots seemed the perfect footwear decision. The hat really topped it off! #punintended

Shirt Dress Worn as a Jacket
When I ordered this dress I had planned to only wear it as a jacket. It really is the perfect completer piece for me because of the lightweight fabric. The corduroy paired with the eye catching color just really makes this a standout piece and instantly adds interest to any outfit. It’s sold out but I found some options for you that I’ve linked below.

If you’ve never tried this before and you’re thinking you’d like to – go for it! A case of the nerves? Try it with column dressing like I did here. Column dressing is when you wear one color – all black, all white, cream, you get the picture. Then just throw on the dress and BAM! You have created a chic outfit in no time flat.

It just doesn’t get any easier, does it? My faux leather leggings are ages old and my black tee is from last year – or the year before from Amazon. You’ve seen these booties before and they are still a favorite. They look so good and feel great too!
Why Try This?
In addition to the fact that it’s just fun to wear a piece you like in a new way, it an also add new life to a piece that no longer fits perfectly. Disclaimer: I wholeheartedly believe we need to wear clothes that fit well and we should never buy things that are too tight or way too big. But every now and again you come across something that becomes too tight in the chest or elsewhere. Rather than get rid of it why not wear it this way?
Meet a Fashionable Friend of Mine
A new friend of mine, Nanette, first wore this on Instagram and it immediately caught my eye. Without hesitation I dm’d her regarding sizing and ordered it for myself. It arrived within 3 days and was love at first sight. Now I am anxiously awaiting a cool down so I can comfortably wear this corduroy dress – both ways!
Allow me to introduce you to my sweet friend Nanette. I go to meet her IRL on my last trip to Nashville and the cool thing is I know I’ll see her again! I asked her to share a little bit with all of you, I know you’ll love her style as much as I do. She will be blogging soon but for now you can find her on Instagram! From Nanette: @sweetfringebenefits is about find the good, the sweet in the ever changing seasons of life. That are at times difficult, hard and even nasty. Here’s how Nanette styled her dress 2 ways! Can you see why I fell in love with it?
