The last day of July means it’s time to share my closet additions. I write a post like this each month where I list the clothing items I purchased as well as items I was gifted. This helps me learn more about my buying behaviors and has served as a great exercise for being more mindful.
Please understand, my goal to shop responsibly and with purpose. I don’t enjoy having an overflowing closet. I’ve worked hard over the last few years to define my style and buy for the right reasons.
What I Bought in July
I think I made good choices in July! I bought a total of 3 items from Loft, one from Belk, and one from Quince.
Loft
Thanks to the great sales at Loft and easily earned rewards, I bought three things that were practically free! Ha!! I was looking for tops with interesting details in July and I found them. The shirred black top is such a great one- you can easily wear it longer or shorter and if you have any midsection insecurities this one does a nice job in that area. The burgundy top feels the same way – lots of cute details and it will work so well into fall. I bought the black pants because they exceeded my expectations. They’re a slim leg chino.

Belk
I tried on lots of dresses at Belk and bought this one top. You can read about it here. Belk is such a hidden treasure! Boutique items at affordable prices galore is what I found at Belk! This one was my favorite. I love the pink color and the style of this blouse. I’ll wear it with olive green this fall.

Quince
I shared my Quince haul here. Quince is a great, online retailer and I love the fact that they have a solid collection of clothing that stays in stock. There’s nothing trendy here, just classic, quality pieces and the prices are affordable. I decided to keep this dress – I love the linen fabric and I know it’s one I will wear for years to come.

What I Was Gifted in July
The cutest little activewear set made its way to me in July. I really like the little skort, it is available in a slightly longer version and of course, loads of colorways. It has a pockets and plenty of stretch so it’s very comfortable. The top has UPF sun protection and I love the bright pink color.

The denim skirt is cute and I gave it a good try. In the end, I didn’t love it enough to wear it often so I gave it to my son’s girlfriend. It is precious on her! I have too many clothes to keep things I don’t see myself enjoying regularly.

Oh how I love this top! The cotton poplin is sturdy but not thick and the baby doll style is very forgiving. It does come in other colors but the black really spoke to me. I am wearing it in a size small with the pants from Loft.

A great basic sweater that can be worn alone or layered is a great wardrobe workhorse. Since I am firmly in my blue loving era I chose navy. This is a wool blend but let me tell you, it is not at all hot! I wore it to church on Sunday and then kept it on the rest of the day. It’s an anti-pill sweater as well – who knew that was a thing! But truth be told, the brand recommends washing it in a laundry bag to prevent pilling which is what I’ll do. I like this so much I am considering buying one in another color!

This pretty two piece set is soft and luxurious feeling! I can hardly believe the price. It’s lightweight and I could see myself wearing this to school (when I worked in person). Once the weather cools it will look great worn with a blazer or even a denim jacket. I ordered a size medium in this one.
