Friday Favorites #74

FridayHello Friday you handsome devil! I have been waiting for you to show up since, um, Monday? Yep, that’s about right. How ’bout you? It’s been a busy one for us with our regular day to day activities and then our son having his tonsils out on Tuesday. All went well so there’s only thankfulness coming from me but I still love a weekend.

Not unlike weeks past I have found myself counting my blessings in the way of friends lately.  Maybe it was sitting down to write thank you notes that had me thinking how each of my friends is an answered prayer. So today there’s a theme of friendship tied into my favorites!

Last week I mentioned shopping with my bestie Windy. We’ve been friends for 23 years! We’ve been through so many stages of life together and we’ve never missed a beat. Without a doubt she is there for me and I hope she knows I’m there for her. Do we talk everyday? Nope. See each other every week? Nope. Doesn’t matter, we’re in it for the long haul. She treated me to this gorgeous Kendra Scott mood ring. Such a steal when you use your 50% off birthday discount! Isn’t it pretty? We laughed because we have no idea what the different colors mean and I think it has more to do with temperature than mood but it’s fun nonetheless.kendra scott ring

I realized this week that the ladies who seem to be my closest friends right now are an answered prayer. For years I prayed for a great group of girlfriends who loved me and one another. My prayers were answered in such a funny way (God has a great sense of humor) – these friends of mine all live in different states – except Chrissy but she’s a few hours away. I guess the lesson here is that friends find time to connect – we all use the Marco Polo app and chat all day long.  We are making plans to get together again this year.  So if you are ever feeling like you don’t have that group of friends (that everyone else seems to have) I hope you realize you aren’t alone and that there are many ways to connect.friendship quote

On the heels of that I should mention that I am not someone who discards friends. I am loyal to a fault and the people I am closest to have been in my life for years. But friendships go through different seasons and life gets busy. I was so impressed with this post from Maureen of Little Miss Casual. It is so spot on about friendship. When I was younger I used to think how wonderful it would be to grow up and not have friendship drams – ha! What a farce! Regardless of our age we still have feelings and they get hurt and we feel left out. Sometimes we are doing all the work. Anyway, I loved her post , it was so honest and open. Check it out.

It’s great when friendships include the whole family. Isn’t it nice when your husband and your friend’s husband get along too? And the kids? Yes, yes, yes! One way we celebrate with our dearest and best friends is getting together for the 4th of July. Take a look at these precious and patriotic straws I purchased from Heather of My Glittery Heart. She has the cutest Etsy shop. Check it out! These straws will be join the rest of my 4th of July decor very soon!oh my glitter straws

Sunday night we were invited to a bbq to celebrate a friend’s birthday. One of my neighbors, who happens to be an avid reader of the blog, walked in wearing this top! She got it for Mother’s Day after reading the blog – I think it looks fantastic on her! That brings me to another point – friends support one another – this sweet friend of mine, Patricia, tells everyone about the blog (even the men we sit on a committee with – ha!).Amazon OTS Palm Top Remember when I wore it like this?Palm Print Blouse

That wraps it up for this week. Thank you for stopping by! As always I appreciate your readership and comments. I am wishing each and every one of you the very best weekend and I will see you back here on Monday!
