Wearing Black in Spring

Wearing black in Spring may not be the image your mind conjures up when you think of fashion this time of year. But I think most of us agree that black looks great any time of year! So a few weeks ago when I was putting a wish list of items I thought I needed for the coming season, a black tailored shirt was at the top.

Essential Black Pieces

There are a few essential pieces for Spring, I bet you have most of them already. Black shorts, pants, dresses, and of course tops and blouses are wardrobe essentials. These items are often the foundation for a chic look!

The Black Tailored Shirt

A black, tailored shirt topped my list and here’s why: I knew it would be work so well with my black shorts for a chic Spring look! While I own a black bodysuit, tee shirt, short sleeve blouse, and a tank I did not have a tailored shirt. The tailored shirt will work year round so I knew I wanted to find a good one that would not only fit well but wash well too. This one from Banana Republic caught my eye and once it went on sale I wasted no time ordering it!

The Outfit

The first outfit starring my new top was worn on Sunday. We traveled to Gainesville to take our son out for lunch on his 22nd birthday. Pairing the shirt with my shorts, cap toe pumps, and a camel sweater turned out to be the perfect outfit for the day! My goal is always to look as good as I feel. I want to be comfortable but chic – not too much to ask, right?

Your Turn

What are your thoughts on black for Spring? Maybe it’s because of where I live, but I don’t think any color is off limits any time of the year. I wear white all year – maybe I wouldn’t if I lived somewhere snowy (because I think white pants would get dirty from the mess). But I do think as long as the fabric is weather appropriate then why not? Let me know what you think!
