Well it’s true, I am 51! My birthday was Monday so today I’ll devote this edition of Friday Favorites to my favorite things about turning another year older!
My very favorite thing about a birthday is hearing from dear friends and family. It’s nice to hear the impact you have on someone else, how much they care for you, the difference you make in their lives. I was completely blown away by my sweet #NashBash friends – from mentioning me in their blog posts, to their Instastories, to their sweet gifts I was speechless. It gets me excited about a trip we have planned this fall to Austin, TX! The picture below is from our Nashville trip in 2018. From left to right you’ll see: Laura of The Horton Family, Chrissy of Granola & Grace, Shelly of The Queen in Between, Me, Lisa of Coast to Coast, and Andrea over of Living on Cloud Nine.
I thank each and every one of you who wished me a happy birthday! It made a difference. This was a rough birthday for me since it was the first since losing my dad.
Another favorite? Gosh I love cashing in on all the freebies and discounts I get from my favorite retailers. My best friend Windy took me shopping on Saturday and I cashed in on many of those deals! She also treated me to my half price piece at Kendra Scott and lunch at PF Chang’s! Check out her Neverfull bag – trust me- it will be the only time you’ll find LV on this blog – ha!!!
I used my birthday coupon from Macy’s to buy this dress! It comes in a beautiful blue too but it wasn’t available in my size. Right now it’s on sale for under $35. I love it so much I wore it two days in a row!
Getting older, and hopefully wiser is another birthday favorite. I made some wise decisions in regards to make up products at Sephora on Saturday. I have heard so much about Charlotte Tilbury products and needed to see what the hype was all about. I chose two products to start with and I really like them – for more mature skin like mine, I think they’re winners!
At this point in my life I can choose how I want to spend my birthday – so that’s a favorite. I chose to get up at my normal (ridiculously early) time to go to the gym. Then I came home and worked. My son is getting his tonsils out next week so I took him to his pre-op appointment. I threw dinner in the crockpot, made corn salsa, and cilantro lime rice. The chicken and the salsa were on Lisa’s pinterest boards and the cilantro lime rice was on mine. My mother and one of my nephews joined us for dinner. My husband brought me flowers and so did my nephew! After dinner we went out for ice cream and then came home and I opened a few gifts from my boys. We are going to Maggiano’s for dinner this weekend and I am looking forward to it!
I don’t mind turning a year older one bit. Yes, sometimes I’m shocked at how old I am because I don’t feel that grown up. But overall I have a happy life and I feel blessed each day – my life is not perfect but I am okay with that. Thank YOU for being part of my life! Make today awesome and have the very best weekend my friends!
