One Shoulder Blue Dress

Happy Friday friends!  What a week!  School got out on Wednesday and my last day of work was Thursday so this Friday is especially sweet.  On top of that tomorrow is my birthday and I couldn’t be happier.  I’m excited to enter my last year in the 40’s and super thrilled to be spending my birthday shopping and eating with my husband and my sons. I’ve collected the names of a few good restaurants in the Tampa area where we’re headed to shop and I can’t wait to enjoy a cocktail (or two), delicious food, and find wonderful treasures shopping!  For the last several years my birthday has fallen on or very near to the last day of school and while we’re trying to wrap up a school year by the time my birthday rolls around all I want to do is collapse.  So with the school year officially over I feel like I can really enjoy.

I’m spending today with one of my besties getting mani pedis and then heading out to lunch.  A perfect Friday in my book.  Later my son (which means me) is hosting a pool party so the rest and relaxation from earlier in the day will be short lived, lol!

This one shoulder blue dress was a spur of the moment purchase last week. But I am so glad I bought it! Every morning I peruse the blogs I follow on Bloglovin. When I saw this dress on Alyson of The Modern Savvy I fell in love! Of course I was just a smidge hesitant because Alyson is much younger than me and petite but with Nordstrom’s easy peasy return policy and the fact that the dress is under $40 I knew I had nothing to lose. Just days later my package arrived #cometomama. Yup, the dress is pretty terrific!

I popped on an old red necklace with it in honor of Memorial Day weekend (when we took these photos) but it could easily work for the 4th of July.  I am on the hunt for a hot pink necklace which I think would look great too.  Of course I’m wearing nude wedges because you know how I feel about that (longer legs please!).  If you’re interested I bought the dress in a size medium. I think it’s perfect and not too short.  I’ll wear it with flats or sneakers this Summer when I ‘m out shopping or running errands.  I’ve said it before but it’s so hot and humid here in Orlando that sometimes wearing a dress is the only way to stay cool.

I am completely digging the one shoulder style of this dress.  It’s a lot less fussy than the off the shoulder styles which are everywhere.  Not that I’m knocking OTS, I keep buying them!  I swear everything I see and like is OTS!  I need an intervention.  Soon.  The vertical stripes are great too, and the ruffle detail is a nice, feminine touch.  If my chest was smaller the ruffle would be even more flattering but I like the dress enough to work around it.

Summer is all about relaxing and taking it easy for me.  The cut of this dress is very forgiving which goes hand in hand with happy hour cocktails and snacks.

Honestly this dress has so much going for it, the style, the cut, the color, and the great price.  Check it out here.

I’ve linked some cute dresses at a great price below.  Do you like wearing dresses to keep cool in the Summer?  I’ll see you on Monday but till then I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

A pretty near-perfect dress is what’s in This Blonde’s Shopping Bag today, what’s in yours?

Fashionably yours,

Kellyann
