Slip Dresses for Spring

Spring means all kinds of fun celebrations starting with Easter. Then there’s all the other events like graduations, end of the year parties, weddings, and a host of other occasions. If possible I try to avoid buying those one hit wonders that I’ll basically wear once and never again. Slip dresses for spring can fill the need for all those special times and then some!

Slip Dresses for Spring

Goodness knows I am no stranger to a slip dress! About two years ago Target had the slip dress that was the answer to my prayers. For such a long time I had struggled trying to find one that allowed me to wear a regular bra. Although I don’t mind a strapless bra every now and again, it’s not my first choice. Anyway, I liked the dress so much I bought it in multiple colors.

This year a new slip dress caught my eye. This one from Walmart is so well made, the fabric feels incredible and if you are careful – you can wear a regular bra! By careful I mean, use one of these clips (or a racerback bra) unless you decide to go with a strapless version. I do like this strapless bra btw but I am always going to be a fan of a regular bra for the best support.

Cut on the bias, this dress comes in 3 colors: navy suit, azalea, and yellow. I am wearing a small but it comes in sizes XS – XXXL.

I am wearing the strapless bra with this dress so you can see how it looks. Despite some of the wrinkles from shipping, this dress, in person, looks so high end. One of the things I thought immediately was how well it would work as a bridesmaid dress! Honestly with a dressier shoe and some sparkly accessories this would actually be a great option.

One thing I’ve noticed over the years is how I gravitate more towards a longer dress for events like graduations. Having to sit for an extended period of time is just easier when there’s some length to the dress. Shorter dresses have me constantly pulling and tugging at the hem.

Ways to Wear the Slip Dress

Not a fan of a bare arm? Add a cardigan or blazer. A denim jacket could work too but I tend to lean more towards the blazer. I also like the idea of wearing a sneaker for comfort, street style is a vibe!

One of the things I am coming to realize is that I need a petite in some blazers. As much as I love this white linen version from JCrew, I think it’s a bit too long. Since learning I am no longer 5’5″ I am having an honest look at how certain things fit. I love the outfit – or at least the idea of the outfit – but the proportions are a bit off.
