Good morning friends!
Wrapping up our Christmas break is so bittersweet. Our son heads back to UF tomorrow and we head back to work. Boo! I thoroughly enjoyed the break, especially this last week. Having my husband home with me is terrific. Seriously just going to bed at the same time and getting to sleep in have been such a treat! Tomorrow I’ll be back at it with my 4:30 am wake up time which means I’ll be in bed by 10. Today will be spent getting things ready for the work week and making sure my college freshman is well stocked with all the goodness of home.
In 2016 I read The One Year Bible. I loved setting and reaching that important goal; it’s so important to start the day with a devotional and quiet time for me. That discipline really shaped my days and blessed me. This year I have decided to focus on happiness and getting out of my own head. Starting this blog last April was such a leap of faith and one that continues to challenge me. Each day I play a mind game with myself about whether or not to continue but ultimately I have decided to continue because I need the creative outlet. I asked Diane to join me in this endeavor because we had talked about it alot together but that’s all we were doing was talking so I took the first step and was happy she wanted to join me. I envisioned us working side by side taking great photos and creating good content – and hopefully encouraging women to take their style to the next level without spending a fortune. Diane and I both love fashion but we have different body types as well styles so I thought we would really have something special – something for every woman. I still believe that but unfortunately that’s not how things have turned out. Moving forward in 2017 things will be changing and I have some exciting plans to put into place!
This year I am going to make a concerted effort to resist impulse buys and hold out for things I really love and need. It is challenging for me to walk away from great sales especially at this time of the year. Making it a tad easier is the fact that our weather has been off the charts hot this fall and winter. I refuse to buy any sweaters because I haven’t even had much of a chance to wear the ones I bought last year (which were hardly worn). While shopping with my friend last Friday I was thisclose to buying a gorgeous sweater at Anthropologie. It was on clearance with an additional 40% off but I walked away from it – even after trying it on and liking it. I feel like I am making progress!
Today’s post isn’t all about what’s on my mind though. Here are some pictures from my new camera of some purchases I made that absolutely thrill me!
That’s what I wore on Christmas Eve. I bought both the top and the pants from Loft during one of their 50% off sales. In fact, I ordered both pieces while driving our son back to Gainesville after Thanksgiving break (relax, I was a passenger). Oh the convenience of a smartphone!
I found both pieces to run TTS (true to size). I am wearing a small in the top and a size 4 in the pants.
I could not find a link for my exact top so I linked two similar tops. Also, a word about my Kendra Scott necklace. You NEED one. I promise you won’t be disappointed. Her stuff is FABULOUS. This is the one necklace I can always count on, I take it on vacation because it goes with everything and can easily be worn casually or for an evening out. Trust me, get yourself one of her pieces.
Next up are those faux leather leggings I’ve been loving and wearing the heck out of! They are so comfortable and lightweight enough to be worn in this crazy 80 degree weather we’re having. I’ve dressed them up and down and love them both ways. I am wearing an XS in these.
I am wearing one of my favorite tops, so comfy and looks good too!
I included a few great pieces from Lush!
Well, that was quite a post! I will be back later this week but for now I hope you enjoy taking a look at what I wore for Christmas Eve and my new faux leather leggings. That’s what’s in This Blonde’s Shopping Bag today, tell me, what’s in your shopping bag?
Fashionably yours,
Kellyann
