Formula for a Good Week

At the start of every week we have an opportunity to turn the page and begin anew! Why not set your intentions on having a good week? I thought long and hard about what helps me when I’m down or stressed and came up with a bit of a formula or bucket list if you will. Maybe there are some things you’d add or take away from this list, you’ll have to let me know!

Formula for a Good Week

Listen, life happens and we will not always be able to control our circumstances. But we can control how we react and our attitude. So take this formula for what it’s worth – a good starting point. Some basic self care tips and suggestions. But also understand that you might be facing something absolutely catastrophic and I do not mean to minimize that or suggest that you smile your way through it. Let’s get to it!

Set Your Intention

What’s on your schedule this week? How would you like the week to go? Set your intention. Do you have a lot to accomplish? Do you want to accomplish it all? If yes and yes then make that happen. Juggling a lot of balls right now? Make a plan for how you will deal with them. Write it down and remind yourself often that you can do hard things.

Personally I start each day with my devotional. Having that to think through and pray on all day helps me like nothing else.

Refuse to be Offended

Decide right now that no matter what, you will not be offended. Far too often we’re going about living our lives and someone says something that derails the whole thing. Do not let that happen. Take it for what it’s worth and rise above. See my post here.

Take Care of Yourself

This sounds so cliche but it is worth repeating. No matter what is happening take care of yourself – the best that you can. You can drive a car with no gas and we fail to take care of ourselves how in the world can we help others?

Make sure you are getting sleep, drinking water, eating, and spending time outside. Move your body. Talk to or spend time with people you love or at the very least enjoy. Make it happen. Don’t wait for someone to reach out to you, do the reaching. Schedule it. Get it on the calendar. Have something to look forward to. These are all the elements of nurturing yourself.

Final Thoughts

This is a week I am not looking forward to; actually I have had a few busy weeks and I’ll be honest, they stress me out. But I have managed to thrive and survive and these were the things I found myself doing over and over again and that’s how I decided to write this post. Let me know what you would add or take away from this list!
