Favorite Finds

Another week in the books and that means it’s time to share my favorite finds. This is a hodge podge list of things that have tickled my fancy this week and hopefully you’ll enjoy them as well.

This week started off with a laugh when I read Katie’s post. If you have not yet checked out The Preppy Empty Nester, I urge you to do so. I practically spit out my coffee reading her post from Sunday. Check it out for yourself here. I look forward to every post Katie writes, definitely a favorite!

There’s been a lot of talk lately about link up parties going by the wayside and how many bloggers are moving over to Instagram. But I still enjoy reading a good blog. For me, blogs have taken the place of magazines I once enjoyed. I appreciate hearing from real women how they manage the day to day details from cleaning hacks to recipes to fashion – I love it all. Which leads me to number 2!

Dawn Lucy from Fashion Should Be Fun has been blogging longer than I have and used to host a fun link up. By fun I mean, it was very popular and I found some of my favorite blogs that way. This week her post, Wardrobe Building 101 really caught my attention. I hope you’ll check it out – lots of good information. If you’ve been following me for awhile then you know that recently I have been trying to revamp my style and so many of the questions I have pondered, Dawn Lucy mentioned in her post. My reason for making changes comes from my struggle with looking into an overfull closet and feeling frustrated that I have nothing to wear. She nailed it for me in her post and I have been spending a lot of time soul searching, so her post really hit home making it a favorite!

Last weekend our younger son and his volleyball team were in town for a tournament. I’ll never tire of watching my boy do his thing and I love the spirit of the team. We had lunch at a campus restaurant, Burger U. They had a quote up that made me laugh – and laughing is definitely a favorite of mine!

This one may seem weird but work with me. Sunday, February 6 would have been my dad’s 80th birthday. My family got together and had dinner, I made one of his favorites for dessert, and shared some stories and lots of laughs. I also came across this photo of my youngest son (at his high school graduation) and the side by side of my dad’s high school graduation photo. They look so much alike and it warms my heart to see some of my dad in my son. Definitely a favorite.

This week was National School Counseling Week and I certainly enjoyed many sweet sentiments sent my way by co-workers. But this video from the Mathletes of “Mean Girls” on Broadway was one that really caught my attention and became a favorite for sure!

Let’s end things on a fun, fashion note. Spring break is right around the corner and while I have no plans I cannot help but notice some fun swimsuits and cover ups hitting the stores. I picked up this top and pants at Target the other day. I love them – they are lightweight and gauzy and look so chic! I am wearing a small in the top and a medium in the pants. The top is very loose fitting and oversized and the pants have that wonderful tie at the waist and slits up the leg. The best part is that the slits don’t go up too high so they are very comfortable and provide good coverage. Check out my new shoes below too – are you a fan of clear shoes? These are actually comfortable! A favorite look for the beach or pool for sure.

Y’all I am over wearing cover ups that make me sweat – nylon and polyester are the culprits. This line from Target is Kona Sol and the pieces are 80% rayon and 20% polyester which seems a good blend to me. I prefer a button up cover up rather than a pull over – I like being able to leave it open to stay cool but still covered. Definitely a favorite!

On Wednesday I went to get my bangs trimmed during my work day. This is what I wore. I had this on all day for work – it’s comfortable and put together which I love! These pull on pants from Express are a heavier weight fabric so they don’t cling to every bump and bulge. Bonus – they are on sale and come in other colors. Just as easy as wearing leggings but so much more sophisticated! They are a favorite for sure!

Whew, that was quite a compilation of favorites this week, thanks for sticking with me. I hope your weekend includes something fun and wonderful! We have reservations to go to dinner tonight with our besties to celebrate Valentine’s because really, what’s more romantic than a dinner for four? Ha!!!
