We are 2 weeks away from the official start of fall and by now you’ve probably noticed that sweater vests are trending. They’re popping up here and there and I have to tell you, I’m here for it! Unlike a full on sweater, these trendy pieces can be worn now, later, and much later! That’s right – even gals like me living in hot, humid climates can partake in this trend. Join me as I style a sweater vest multiple ways!
Look #1 Right Now
Right now it’s hot here in the south but a cotton sweater vest can be worn without any other layers, keeping you cool and comfortable. I’ve seen them styled with shorts as well as skirts and why not? I chose a skirt and denim along with booties for a late summer look.
Look #2 Later
Once it’s too cool for bare arms, I’ll add my half tee. It gives the look of a layered tee but it’s not nearly as warm. Again, this will be perfect in my climate – maybe yours too! I love the look of white under this pretty blue. This sweater vest is from the Wild Fable line at Target and I am wearing a size medium.

I think the half tee is perfect under the sweater vest but of course a full tee could work as well. I love that the half tee adds no extra bulk and no weird bumps or bulges. If you’d like to try a Half Tee for yourself, use my code KELLYANN20 and save 20%!

Look # 3 Much Later
Several months from now I’ll be layering like a champ and this vest and plaid number were made for one another. I love the soft, unexpected colors (pastels in fall? Oh yessssss!!)
I am also loving adding a blazer over this sweater vest for a little extra warmth. The key is to get a vest that isn’t too bulky and fits well. I may be wearing denim but this would easily transition to work wear by switching out the jeans to slacks or a pencil skirt. My blazer is a Poshmark find, it’s from Banana Republic and is like new. I am planning on changing the buttons to gold – and can hardly wait to see how it changes the look.
In all of the photos above I am wearing these new booties from Amazon. I ordered them on a whim, fully expecting the pointed toe to be an issue but I sized up a half size and really like them. They have a padded footbed that makes them very comfortable.
As September marches on, I am finding myself slowly checking off my fall wardrobe wishlist items. I’m planning to share my wishlist with you next week. It’s based on what I am seeing on social media mostly. It’s funny, I used to get ideas from magazines but now blogs and Instagram have become my main sources. How about you?
Thanks so much for being here today, I appreciate you stopping by and wish you a wonderful Wednesday!
