Six Ways to Style a Summer Skirt

Although summertime often means shorts I prefer skirts. They’re cooler and when you live in an extremely humid climate like I do anything that cools you off even slightly is a win. Maxi and midi skirts are great but a shorter skirt is ideal in the heat!

When I spotted this Daisy Chain Ponte Flippy Skirt (plus) on Loft’s website I knew I wanted to give it a try. The perfect shorter skirt for me is one that won’t blow up in the wind and isn’t too short. The ponte knit of this skirt helps smooth things out and holds things in – winner! Guess what else? It’s on sale so it’s a win-win!!

As soon as it arrived I couldn’t wait to pull things from my closet and have some fun!
This skirt is versatile and the ponte knit can be dressed up or down. I wore my wedges with each look. In full disclosure when we were taking these pictures a storm was rolling in so time was of the essence and I was in a hurry!

The first look is pretty classic – a little skirt, cami, and denim jacket.

It’s honestly too hot for the jacket!

The cami would be great on it’s own (2nd look) but sometimes another layer is necessary. If a denim jacket is too hot try a short sleeved chambray blouse tied at the waist (similar, plus). The chambray blouse could be worn alone but I like the layered look. That’s look 3 if you’re counting!

Staying with the blue theme but dressing things up just a tad with this old eyelet top for look #4. It’s several years old from Loft (similar). I added my new stone necklace.

This faux wrap style top is another option that is a little more dressed up yet still comfortable and not fussy at all. That makes 5!

Now look number 6 is my favorite but not my favorite photo unfortunately. We have had some terrible rain lately and of course the wind picked up and the rain came down! We never got a chance to re-shoot these but we will. Seriously a good pattern mix is my very favorite and I couldn’t love these two pieces together any more!

A little wind blown but see how the skirt stays down?!

So there you have it – 6 ways to wear a summer skirt. Of course I’m just getting started, the options are endless. I sure hope you have a wonderful Monday my friends! I appreciate you stopping by today!
