Today I bring you the newest addition to my blazer collection, the Pink Linen Blazer from JCrew. It was on sale last week and while I wanted it in white (it was sold out in my size) I decided on pink. Since this light pink is really a neutral (in my book anyway) I felt like it could serve the same purpose. Also? I’m just kind of a sucker that way!
Why I Tried It
A trend I wanted to try was pairing a tailored piece like the blazer with something distressed and casual like the cut off shorts. I’ve seen this done many times and it really resonated with me. Working from home and leading a more casual lifestyle yet loving blazers and heels like I do, well this seemed a match made in heaven.
The linen blazer is so well made and fits like a dream. I am wearing a size 8 for reference. Linen is such a great fabric in warm weather and I look forward to wearing it lots of ways. I bought the shorts in a size 6 when ShopBop had them on sale. If you have admired the AGolde Parker shorts, these are a great dupe for a fraction of the cost. I like the way the leg opening is wide and not at all tight fitting. I think it’s more flattering.
How to do It
I think this is such a fun look. My rule of thumb is to show skin on only one part of my body when I am dressing to go out somewhere. So if my legs are on display, the last thing I feel comfortable doing is wearing a crop top or off the shoulder number. That is a personal preference of course. I do not believe in fashion rules of any type and think every woman deserves to wear what she feels best in!
My son has been my photographer lately and I have been making him come to our neighborhood park with me. So far he has obliged and not complained too much! We’re still trying to figure out lighting, etc. He was not a fan of me standing in the grass (neither was I) but that was the only way we could get out of the shadows. So bear with me!
