Seems like all the planning of what to wear for the holidays goes completely out the window for me when the actual day rolls around. This is mainly because of the weather. It’s always warmer than I’d like it to be. This year was no different; the last cool day we had was Friday, the 21st. Lucky for me I had a party that night so I did get to wear my sequin leggings. Here’s a group photo from the Ornament Exchange I attend each year – see me down in front?Ornament Exchange

On Christmas Eve we had plans to go to church and then to my sister’s house. Church is always freezing cold on Christmas Eve because there are record numbers of people in attendance so the a/c is cranking. But then my sister’s house tends to be warm, so what’s a girl to do? Layer! I wore a black blazer (similar, plus) over a velvet tank (similar, similar under $10), black slacks (similar), and my new leopard booties (similar). I totally did not see that outfit coming but once I started playing around in my closet it came together. Here is the only picture taken of me that night. I took a ton of photos just none of myself. I should mention that this was at the end of the night and the boys are wearing the pj’s my mother got them. She buys the same ones for all the kids and they take pictures. I had to mention that because the boys would NEVER dress alike!Christmas Eve

Christmas Day I was hosting and it was another warm one. I know I sound like a broken record but it is so hard to get into the holiday spirit when it’s 80 degrees. I decided to go for something comfortable but festive. I wore my grey pinstripe pleggings (on great sale here), my hot pink blouse, and my Rimini booties (c/o Jambu). Not a single picture was taken of me that day if you can believe it!

New Year’s Eve we got together with our friends at their house. This has been our tradition each year. It’s either their place or ours. We have food, drinks, and games. I have said before that I’m not a huge fan of sequin tops on myself because they pull my hair out yet here I am wearing one! If I let my hair get any longer it will be a problem! I just couldn’t say no to this pretty top though and I love that it can be worn casually or more dressed up. I wore this outfit all day – we ran errands to Lowe’s, Ashley Furniture, Ulta, and the grocery store! Yes, a few people looked at me like I was crazy wearing sequins but you know what? I could not have cared less!

So what I have discovered in wearing this top is that while it is so pretty I don’t really like it! Ha! The sequins are catching on one another and falling out. I’m like Hansel & Gretel leaving a trail wherever I go. At least my trail is low carb and after the holidays aren’t we all ready for low carb?#SequinTop

What I love is pairing sequins with distressed denim and heels. This outfit is me, completely. I like a little glam and a little grunge. Nude heels worked perfectly for my NYE plans!#SequinTop

I hope you like the change of scenery in these pictures.  I had this great idea to venture out into our neighborhood – we have several lakes that I just knew would make for a great back drop. Well, the laugh was on me when we got there and realized the direction of the sun meant I would be the only one facing the water! Oh well, I’ll have to get out there earlier in the day or try another lake.#SequinTop

I rounded up some options for you to shop since most of what I wore was old.  That’s the good thing about buying pieces you love that aren’t necessarily trendy – they can be worn for years!
