I’m late getting around to posting this but I am dedicated to continuing to review and share my purchases with you! The purpose of this series is to help me think through my purchases by sharing what I spent as well as my rationale for each one. I am keeping a running total of what I’ve spent on clothing for the year. If you missed my previous posts you can catch up here. But let’s get into what I bought in August!
What I Bought in August – Closet Confessions
The things I bought in August were all solid purchases – no regrets! I added a total of 3 pair of pants, 2 sweaters, and 4 blouses. The only regret I have is that I did not purchase one pair of pants earlier when they were on sale but I still believe they are a solid purchase.
Pants I Bought
As I mentioned I bought three pair of pants. The first pair goes with the blazer I purchased in July. They are a classic pair that will work for years to come. I spent $89.46.

I bought 2 pair from Target when they had a 30% off sale. This pair of black skinny pants as well as the jeans in ecru. I didn’t expect to like the ecru pair nearly as much as I do. They really are fabulous and such a nice option if you aren’t a fan of white after Labor Day. The black skinny pants were $29 and the ecru jeans were $24.78.

Sweaters I Bought
The sweaters I bought came from Target, Walmart and H&M. Polo neck sweaters are so flattering and I love the way they style themselves. If you have a larger chest like I do, crew neck sweaters don’t always look so good. The polo neck breaks up that area nicely. I bought this cream polo neck and this black one. The longer sleeve and stripes on this one from H&M is something I did not have in my wardrobe. I spent $17.70 on the cream one, the striped one was $26.61, and the black one was $24.00.

Blouses I Bought
The four blouses I bought are classic pieces that will work so well with all of my other items. The short sleeve tencel shirt is soft and I love the wash. I purchased this short sleeve black silky blouse and this longer sleeve cream blouse at Banana Republic Factory. Although it may seem silly to purchase a one shoulder top in August, living in FL means I can wear it well into December. Off the shoulder, one shoulder, and cut outs are on trend for Fall. I am not a fan of cut outs on me but I can do off the shoulder.
The black one shoulder was $18, and I spent a total of $80.00 at Banana Republic Factory.

Total Spent
The total I spent this month was: $285.55. That brings my total for the year to $2931.35. I say this every month and I will say it again, what someone spends is personal – I choose to share this because my experience may help you and me – who knows?
I also look at this year as a rebuilding year for me. Last Fall I started honing in on my own personal style. That has helped me to realize what I’d like to add to my closet and what I can get rid of. I got tired of staring into a closet full of clothes and feeling like I had nothing to wear. Since making this change and concentrating on wearing pieces I love, I’ve had so many people I come in contact with on a daily basis comment on how much they like my style – rather than liking my outfit. I feel like this is a win!
Thanks for stopping by today friends! I am thrilled you are here and hope you’ll come back or consider subscribing via email. I’ll be back on Thursday with Fashion Files!
