Have you ever wondered if wearing double denim was okay? Is it costumey, trendy, only for young people? The answer is quite simply YES, it is okay to wear double denim. If done correctly you won’t look costumey and white it may be on trend you can still look polished, chic, and modern.

Wearing Double Denim
Rule number one is that I don’t believe there are any rules. Wear what you like when you like and as long as you are confident and comfortable. That being said, I do believe there are some things to consider IF you want to pull off the look in a way that is chic and modern.

How to Wear Denim on Top and Bottom
Denim has a more masculine feel, so wearing it on both top and bottom can sometimes look a little too industrial. Mixing up the shades of your denim is one way to avoid that potential pitfall. Varying the weight of the denim helps too. It never hurts to select pieces with sweet details, like the ruffle on my blouse.
Completer pieces like a jacket and accessories allow you to personalize the look as well as pull it all together. I kept my faux leather blazer, belt, and booties all in the same color family and really like how it turned out.

If wearing blue double denim is something you aren’t quite ready for, try black, grey, or even white denim. It’s interesting to me that most of us don’t think twice about that kind of pairing but wearing blue double denim gives us pause. So let this be the nudge you might need to got for it!
So, what do think? Double denim, yay or nay? It’s a yay for me!
