Wearing Black Pants in Summer

Happy Monday and welcome to a new week full of possibilities. Or coffee, depending on your weekend! Today I wanted to share a wardrobe staple with you: black pants and just how you can wear them in summer. We probably all own a pair but maybe when the weather heats up they find their way to the back of your closet. Let’s think again, m’kay?

The key to wearing black pants year round is the fabric. I bought this pair a few weeks ago while out shopping and cashing in on my birthday rewards. One of my favorite places to do that is at White House Black Market. My birthday seems to coincide with their extra 40% off sale. Here’s what I got!

It’s hard to tell in the photos but these pants are lightweight and cargo style. The hem cuffs up and has a button detail. But the fabric is interesting – the pockets are almost a satin material. This signals to me that they can be dressed up or down.

The blush, sleeveless top is lightweight too and can be worn under a jacket, cardi, or kimono. I thought I’d add a leopard heel to take this look to a dressier level. This was totally comfortable thanks to lightweight fabric.

Similar Kimono

Now with my beloved kimono. I just adore this one, it’s like a robe and the sleeves are fun. When I brought the top and pants home this kimono was practically begging to join in, who am I to say no? Kimono on over and add something special to the look, right? Bwhahahaha, no more attempts at humor I promise.

Another great way to wear your black pants in summer is with a lightweight bluse and a pair of wedge espadrilles. I shared this blouse just last week and you all loved it! It is on sale in lots of places and sizes are limited. While you may not think of wearing a long sleeve blouse and pants in summer (trust me as a Floridian it’s not where my mind goes) but this works because the top is lightweight and flowy.

Finally a super casual look! You can see the cuffs better in this picture and I love the look with the graphic tee. These slip on shoes add to the comfort.

So there you have it, black pants in summer are totally doable! It’s all about the fabric and the vibe – with a sleeveless blouse, a kimono, a lightweight blouse, or a graphic tee you can wear black pants in summer.

I hope everyone had a good weekend. Father’s Day continues to be a tough one for us – this was the second year without my dad. I miss him every. single. day. But that’s what love is. I miss my beloved niece as well. On Saturday night we got together with my family which we hadn’t done since May when we gathered for my mother in law’s funeral. If you are counting, yes, your math is correct – we have had 3 deaths in our family in the last 18 months. Love trumps all however, and we are carrying on with hurting hearts full of good memories.

So, if like me, your heart is hurting, you are not alone. No words can take away the pain and I know that. It’s what love is all about, hang in there and honor those who are not here by living your life fully.

Alright then, let’s wrap this up on a lighter note…next Monday is our Red, White, Blue and You link up! And by “we” I mean my Style Six sisters. These ladies know me so darn well, support, encourage, and pray for me – so gosh, I am blessed!
