Today’s the day to wrap up my little series of using 10 items to create 20 outfits. If you missed part one, go back and read it here. I am using 10 wardrobe basics to create multiple looks. While this is not a capsule wardrobe, my hope is to inspire you (and me!) to take a good look at what’s in the closet. If we buy good basics we can combine them to create looks we love and make fewer purchasing mistakes.
The Pieces
Not all 10 pieces are featured today; in fact you may be thinking most of these look pretty much the same. I do not disagree – they are super similar. Just a little change here or there and I have a different outfit. You may not be able to tell the difference in the first two photos but in the first I am wearing my black pants and the second I am wearing charcoal jeans. I’ll blame the poor lighting and ask your forgiveness for the dark photos.
Charcoal Jeans – You’ve seen these before and while they are relatively new to my wardrobe, their versatility landed them a spot in this round up. While mine are only available in a few sizes, check out these.
Black Turtleneck – A definite favorite of mine. This top works well for me because it’s lightweight and has short sleeves. A classic turtleneck could work just as well! This one is a great option and on sale!
Check Blazer – This checked blazer is a few years old from Target but I still enjoy it and I linked a similar one for you. It’s easy to dress up or down. Find a blazer with a print in colors you like that fits well and your wardrobe will thank you!
Black Blazer – There is nothing better than a black blazer. Definitely a wardrobe staple in any woman’s closet because of its versatility.
White Shirt – The essential white shirt is perfect for layering or wearing alone. I don’t believe you can have too many. I like this one and this one.
Black Pants – A pair of black pants can be dressed up or down so easily; mine are old (no surprise from Loft). But look for a great cigarette pant in a sturdy fabric. Here is a splurge option, these are a little more affordable, and these are much more budget friendly and on sale!
Denim – Every woman needs a great pair of jeans – at least one! I have long been a believer that a flare leg is universally flattering and I own several. This is the second pair of Artist Flare jeans I’ve purchased from American Eagle. This dark wash has become my new go-to. I own the lighter wash as well – I’ve had them for at least 5 years and still love them.
Leggings – There’s nothing like a great pair of leggings. This pair of faux leather is very old but I know the Spanx leggings are a favorite of many; I also love my crackle faux leather from American Eagle.
Sweater – I wanted to add a little color and this blue sweater was perfect – it is on major sale right now and comes in other colors! It’s a classic shape with a v-neck and longer length. Living in FL I have no need for a thick sweater so I always opt for these lighter weight versions. V-necks work better on my body type (large busted and short torso) but if you have a smaller chest, a crew neck would work fine.

The Final Five
This was actually a lot of fun for me. I now know that I have these outfits at my fingertips and I’ll be ready for just about anything. Your wardrobe basics may be different from mine and that’s okay. But I hope this gets your creative juices flowing to see what you can come up with!

Whew, that was exhausting I tell you! Using wardrobe basics to create outfits is not hard but making sure I photograph them and share sure is! I have never made so many lists as I have lately. I hope you enjoyed it and got some great ideas. Thanks so much for reading!
