A funny thing happened on the way to trying to find a denim dress. Instead of finding a dress I loved I found an A-line skirt! A great, basic, blue skirt I will wear over and over again. This A-line utility skirt in navy is fantastic! I ordered it along with the dresses I tried. It’s lightweight yet sturdy, the cut is so flattering and it has pockets! It’s versatile enough to wear with a tank, tee, or a blouse for dressier occasions. Today I thought I’d share two ways I plan on wearing it with you!
First up the skirt with my cutie patootie off the shoulder blouse from Loft. Like I said before I LOVE the embroidered detailing on this top. Of course I can wear the top with lots of bottoms like shorts, jeans, and white pants but I think it is lovely with the skirt. I am wearing a wedge sandal from last year but this one is the updated version for this year. I actually want these because they are named after my son!
Secondly I paired the skirt with a simple tee that is years old! It’s from J Crew and no longer available but I think this one would be absolutely adorable. Actually it is currently on my wish list! Honestly any simple tee would work and paired with sandals or flip flops it makes a great casual outfit.
It appears that my skirt is sold out in most sizes but this one is very similar from Nordstrom. An A-line skirt is flattering on most figures and this classic cut makes it a real wardrobe staple. This belted waist gives the illusion that I actually have one. Because I don’t. Really. My waist is thick, so the illusion provided by this skirt helps to create that hourglass figure we all crave. Now let’s talk about the length. As I’ve gotten older I really appreciate a little longer skirt like this one. It shows a little leg and I don’t have to worry about being exposed if I bend over or a gust of wind blows! In my workplace these are hazards I have to consider.
Luckily it looks good with my Vionic sandals because I have been wearing them non-stop. I’ll tell ya what, they are comfortable and I can wear them all day at work without any pain.
At least my hunt for the perfect denim dress didn’t leave me empty handed; I ended up with a skirt I love! That’s what’s in This Blonde’s Shopping Bag today. Do you own an A-line skirt? If you do, what’s your favorite way to wear it?
Fashionably,
Kellyann
