Well, I may not technically be 50 yet but in just about two months I will be, so let’s round up, okay? Track pants are having a major moment right now and when I spotted this pair I thought I’d give them a try. Can we wear track pants at 50? Oh heck yes! Age doesn’t limit us it’s our mindset that does.
I bought mine just a week ago and no longer see them on the ASOS site but I have found some options for you (here and here). Today I am bringing you 4 different looks with track pants. Two are more casual and two a little dressier – in fact one could easily be worn to work! Say whaaat? Yes, depending on your work environment track pants can easily transition from the office to happy hour (my favorite hour of the day btw).
The first look is casual and so comfortable. When I first received these track pants they looked ridiculously small but they are stretchy – similar to leggings but lighter and looser – does that make sense? I also love the little ruffle detail at the bottom – so cute! It’s easy and safe to wear them with a black tee (option, option, option) and sneakers (similar). My black tee is a little special with the criss cross detail. I added some jewelry to keep from looking like I was headed to the gym! Ha! Like the full face of make up and fixed hair wouldn’t have been a clue! Take a look at the cute ruffle detail at the cuff of these pants!
For the second look I just turned my black tee around and added a white denim jacketand heels (similar). If you own a criss cross tee try turning it around and wearing the criss cross in the back to get a different look. This would work great for a casual night out. Ignore the white feet – no self tanner!
Don’t own a white denim jacket? Try a white blazer (option)! By adding the white blazer you are ready for a night out when you want to be just a little dressier or maybe you could wear this to work.
Finally I switched out the black tee for a red blouse. I bought this one last Fall so it’s no longer available but I’ve linked some similar tops (option, option). The great thing about this top is that it’s a faux wrap, and it’s slightly longer in the back. Again, I think this look would work for several different occasions!
So there you have it, 4 ways with track pants for us gals at 50 and beyond. I am loving that this trend is comfortable yet chic – always a winner for me. When it comes to something trendy like track pants I look for inexpensive pieces that will last about a season maybe two. I am not willing to invest a lot in something trendy but I still want to enjoy it! How about you? Do you have a plan for updating your wardrobe each season and keeping it fresh by adding in some trendy pieces?
