The only way to really commit to something is to either declare it before a group of people who will hold you accountable or write it down and hold yourself accountable. Today I’m doing both! I love lists. I feel empowered every time I get to check something off, how about you? I think for most of that’s the case.
A few things before I get started. A bucket list is a set of goals and as such I believe all goals should be written in the positive. What you focus on you get more of -so rather than write what I don’t want to do I’m focusing on what I want to do!If you’re thinking of writing a bucket list or setting any type of goal I encourage to do the same!
Item #1 – Work out at least 4 times a week! I tend to slack off a little in summer but now that I work from home I am more committed than ever. My workouts don’t have to be long – a 20 minute HIIT session goes a long way and does wonders!
Item #2 – Walk outside 3 times a week. This is huge for me. It’s hot and humid but I must get out and get fresh air as well as add steps in my day. Again because I work from home I’m not as active as I was so I need to change that. On days I go to the gym I usually walk on the treadmill for 20-30 minutes but getting outside will be great on days I’m not at the gym.
Item #3 – Swim in my pool 3 times a week. This will most likely happen after I walk because it’s a great way to cool off. But I also need to swim some laps. Swimming is such great exercise!
Item #4 – Go to an outdoor concert! This will be a challenge for me since I don’t really enjoy crowds but I want to be open to new experiences. We have lots of outdoor concerts and some are free. I can go and stay as long as I’d like without any pressure if I attend a free one.
Item #5 – Go to the Farmer’s Market. We have a nice one on Saturdays but I need to get myself up and moving to make it there. It’s also sweltering hot but I am going to do it! I want to grab some fresh veggies, flowers, and just enjoy being outside!
Item #6 – Paint my kitchen table and chairs. Since our kitchen remodel last Fall, our black dining set is just too dark. Hopefully the humidity will not interfere with my plans. I need to start researching how I’ll paint it. After we return from vacation I will execute this plan1
Item #7 – Don’t laugh but this is most likely not to happen. My final item is to go to Coldstone Creamery and order anything I want regardless of calories! Can you believe I have NEVER eaten ice cream from there before? This is a huge splurge for me and a huge challenge as well. When I told my husband about it he looked doubtful. Probably because I always tell my boys I am going to take them for milkshakes at Steak n Shake in the Summer when they have their specials and I never do. This is the year I do it!
Each of these items is important to me in one way or another. While I could have added a few more things I need to commit to a list that is doable. I’ll keep track by marking in my planner what I have accomplished.
Do you have any tips for me? Any ideas you’d like to share? I’d love to hear!
