With summer right around the corner, I am looking for ways to stay cool yet still look put together and chic. A linen shorts set is one of the easiest ways to achieve that goal.
Styling a Linen Shorts Set
I spotted this linen shorts set on the Banana Republic Factory site while searching for linen vests. On a whim I ordered the shorts to accompany the vest – because, 2 pieces are better than one, right?
These pieces are sold separately, I am wearing a size 6 in both. The vest is fully lined and is made of a blend of linen and cotton with 2% spandex. Flax is the color I am wearing but it also comes in sunwashed (blush pink). The thing I really like about this vest is that it has 5 buttons – to lock and load! Previously I tried a vest from Target. It had fewer buttons and gaped open slightly.
The shorts are made of the same fabric. They have pleats, they’re a great length, and they have a side buckle belt closure. That feature makes these so flattering! If you have a tummy, you know pleats can sometimes accentuate that area. However, the side buckle belt closure and the fact that the pleats are positioned lower prevent that from happening.
Of course this two piece linen blend shorts set is perfect together. The vest fits well and can be worn without anything underneath. I really like this look – so fresh, modern, and on trend!
The vest also works as a completer piece with the shorts and a body suit or tank. I think the vest would also work really well over a graphic tee worn with jeans or a skirt for more of a cool, festival look!
Style the Pieces Separately
Two piece sets offer so much variety and styling options. Break apart the set and wear the pieces separately. I love the shorts paired with a linen blazer or a fun statement top.
Right now Banana Republic Factory us having a terrific sale and these pieces are incredibly well priced. Other retailers have linen blend pieces too – so there are options at every price level. Are you a fan of linen?
