Today is all about what to wear on Christmas Day. Of course it all depends on wear you live and what you’re planning for that day but a regardless of that kind of minutiae – a few things stay the same: you have to look good and be comfortable. This is not the time to hide from the camera – front and center ladies – look your best!
If the last few years have taught me anything, it’s that life is short. Losing multiple family members has also taught me to make sure I’m in photos – seriously, absolutely not kidding – long after you’re gone, photos will remain and your loved ones will recall special memories. Let’s not have them be memories of “mom hiding from the camera” or that kind of foolishness, okay?
Since we go to church on Christmas Eve and then we have a family party, that’s the night I get dolled up. If it’s chilly (fingers crossed) I’ll wear either my sequin leggings or my velvet jeans. But if the sequin top I ordered on Sunday arrives, it’s gonna bump it’s way to the front of the line! I’m all about the sparkle and shine!
Christmas Day I am usually hosting dinner. I’m also usually tired from the night before and all the getting ready involved in hosting dinner. But this year is different. No, not because of Covid but because of my sister! She offered to host both Christmas Eve and Christmas at her house! I am still shell shocked and eternally grateful. I get to show up with a dish – ha!!!!

Before she offered to host I had decided that this was my Christmas Day outfit. It checks all the boxes. It’s comfortable – especially my shoes. It’s festive and cute and it requires no sucking in, no shapewear (I despise it!), and I can sit on the floor (prayers that I can get back up) and play with my niece easily.

This top is a classic. It has that preppy – put – together kind of feel. It’s under $20 and also comes in solids. This is a top that will go the distance.

As soon as I put it on, I immediately thought of cropped pants. My new red shoes (still swooning) provided the perfect pop of red! It’s just so elegant and I feel grown up and chic.

I’m wearing a simple gold necklace and these sparkly earrings. I scooped them up during the black Friday sale at Accessory Concierge. I think they’re great for everyday as well as those times you want to dress up a little!

Do you know what you’re wearing on Christmas Day yet? Have your plans changed much this year? Listen, they probably have but DO NOT LET YOUR JOY BE STOLEN. Do something to honor this day and this time of year, don’t give Covid or anything else that kind of power. If you need help with that, you let me know!
My favorite post from last week’s link up is one everyone needs to read and then send on to others. Really. It comes from my friend Fonda of Savvy Southern Chic, How to Look Good in Holiday Photos. Such good tips that make all the difference!
