Spring Ready and Weekend Wrap Up

Since it officially began on Saturday I can safely say, Happy Spring! Truth be told it’s felt a lot like Spring for awhile here in Florida . This is my favorite time of year because the humidity has not quite set in; it’s here but not as bad as it will be. Soon. Ugh, I shudder at the thought.

Once Spring rolls around I find myself craving all the pretty pastels as well as bright bold colors. In so many ways my style seems to function at both ends of the spectrum; on the one hand I want preppy, tailored styles and on the other I want all the loose, flowy, boho looks I can get. I have found the same to be true with my home decor – I want bright colors and soft neutrals with lots of fun texture and design. I just can’t pick a lane to save my life so what’s a girl to do? I’ve decided to cater to both – in my home as well as my clothing!

Spring Home Refresh

I’ve added a few touches here and there to my home for Spring. My family room is filled with all my favorite boho pieces so I added a few touches here and there with light pinks and bunnies!

My tiered tray is bringing all the spring goodness to the kitchen! I’ve also added Easter placemats to the kitchen table.

In my entryway and dining room I added a few pieces as well. I have decided to go with brighter colors in these areas starting with this new picture. It’s actually hanging upside down but I’m not sure it really matters. I’ve also updated several old items by paining them white.

I am not done with this space. I’m still contemplating other items and kicking around a few ideas. Our home has a modern floor plan and the rooms open to one another in this area. Our living room area will be the next to undergo a makeover but I’m not certain what I want yet.

My favorite places to shop for spring furnishings: Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, Kirkland’s and HomeGoods. I put together a Kirkland’s collage the other night – there were too many cute pieces and with 20% off I could not resist!

Weekend Wrap Up

After work on Friday we went out for Mexican with our friends, Melodie and Steve. I wore a favorite Lou & Great dress – it’s no longer available but this one from Target is so similar! One of my favorite colors to pair with pink is turquoise. After dinner we had ice cream at Culver’s and then came back to our house to play Farkle. Take a look at what I wore during the day on Friday and then quickly changed into to head to dinner!

P.S. Believe it or not, my hand actually does move off of my hip! I know, who knew? Ha! I have to bend more to the side so you can see my neck – taking a selfie is a little harder than it looks.

Saturday morning I had a few errands to run and then came home to work on this post. Saturday afternoon we celebrated my niece’s 5th birthday. Can you guess the theme?

And here’s what I wore to the party! It was so chilly here this weekend so any plans I had for a dress were quickly ignored in favor of layers. My hot pink jacket was the perfect weight. I have been on the hunt for hot pink pumps (they totally remind me of the 80’s, like totally!). I grabbed these at TJ Maxx and they’ll do. They are certainly not comfortable enough for me to wear all day but they don’t hurt my feet and I can wear them for several hours at a time thanks to my Sheecsocks. I know I sound like a broken record but they really are good. I am wearing a pair of ultra low with these pumps and they are completely undetectable but they saved my feet! Again, my code is KELLYANN and you’ll save 15% off your first order – honestly they are affordable anyway.

Sunday was a relaxing day. It was also pretty chilly and overcast. We set up new beds in our sons’ rooms – they’ll both be home for a wedding in a few weeks – yay! Last weekend we sold their old beds and we have replaced them with queen sized ones; I think they’ll love them!

I hope your weekend was a good one, did you do anything special?
