Splurge or Save: Fall Edition

As a middles aged woman I want to be stylish and current. This means that I enjoy purchasing new clothing each season. But I never want to spend foolishly, there are some things I don’t mind spending more on like good accessories and shoes. I’ve rounded up several trendy pieces at different price points so you can decide whether you’d like to splurge or save.

Splurge or Save: Fall Edition

One thing I never like to spend on is something that is trendy and doesn’t fit my personal style. The pieces I am sharing today are those that I feel have staying power; they won’t be here for just one season.

Often referred to as the “coatigan” these stylish, thicker cardigans have been popular for several years. I don’t think they’re going anywhere anytime soon. J.Crew makes such high quality pieces that it’s hard to compare but this one from Amazon sure comes close.

Holiday parties are right around the corner. Both of these versions have smocking at the waist and an open neck as well as a tiered skirt. I can hardly tell the difference, can you?

This one of those times that I am going to say, if you can, get the spend version. Nothing really compares to a good leather tote. I have been using my Madewell Transport Tote since 2018 and it is still going strong. Every time I travel it comes with me and is loaded down with my laptop among other necessities. I would not want to be without it.

Finally, let’s talk about the lady jacket. You might remember me talking about mine. It’s from J.Crew and after coming to the realization that it wasn’t going on sale anytime soon (it was always EXCLUDED from promotions, sigh) I bought it. I rarely pay full price but I did and I don’t regret it.

In September I purchased this pink one from Amazon. It’s not an Amazon brand, it’s from Urban Revivo. I LOVE it, haven’t worn it yet because it’s not been cold enough.

This save version is really good though. I bought it in red and while the color is not the shade of red I am looking for – it’s more of a pink or maybe even an azalea color – I really like it. I am thinking I may get it in black or white instead but I’m unsure.

Here they are, all three! The low, medium, and high priced versions.

That wraps it up for this edition of splurge or save. A person’s budget is personal to them but I think that good fashion is attainable at every price point. It all comes down to decisions. Before you buy anything – regardless of the price – ask yourself if it will really work for you. Does it excite you? Would you grab it and wear it right now if you could? Does it work well with the rest of your wardrobe? Do you think you’ll tire of it or will you like it next year?

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I appreciate you being here. Please consider signing up to receive my posts by email and following me on Instagram and Pinterest.
