Short Story

Living in Florida means it shorts weather pretty much year round.  With so many different lengths shorts can be worn in a variety of settings.  Although I actually feel cooler (temperature wise) in skirts and dresses sometimes it’s just nice to throw on a pair of shorts.  If it’s windy I’ll opt for shorts immediately to save myself embarrassment.  But here’s the thing about shorts and me, we don’t always get along.  Wanna know why?  Spider veins.  Yes, I have spider veins all over my legs.  ALL OVER. Wearing shorter shorts just seems to call more attention to something I don’t enjoy seeing.  Over the years I’ve had sclerotherapy (injections) as well as laser treatment.  Not only are they expensive and kind of painful but they need to be repeated yearly because I develop more spider veins.  I guess I’m vain (see what I did there?) because I’m self conscious about them.  My best friends are self tanner and Sally Hansen Airbrush legs.

Today I’m sharing a new pair of shorts with you. These are the shortest shorts I’ll wear, in fact I really debated getting them.   After all I do believe shorts are a necessity when it’s so brutally hot.  So if you’re like me and there are things you wish you could conceal when wearing shorts then maybe you’ll get a tip or two from me.  Let me also say that if you have varicose or spider veins and they don’t bother you one bit and don’t interfere at all with your wardrobe choices then I aspire to be like you!  Seriously I admire that self confidence and I’d like to develop it.  In the meantime here’s how I deal with shorts!

Since these are so short there’s no way these would be appropriate for work and I wouldn’t wear them out to dinner, unless it was a very casual restaurant.  I would wear them possibly to a theme park, to run errands, or just hanging out at home.  They are fun!  I picked these up last Sunday. They’re cute, lightweight and perfect to bring on vacation with me.  It may be hard to see in the photographs but the shorts have little gold pineapples on them, so cute for Summer, right?  So if I decide to go with a shorter short like this one self tanner is a MUST.  I also avoid cuffs on shorter shorts like these because they add width to the part of my leg that’s already wide.

I added a new top from Target along with my espadrille wedges from Gap and one of my very favorite tassel necklaces.  Here’s a hot tip for you:Accessory Concierge is having a Mother’s Day Sale! With code MOM you can get 30% off your entire order. Such a great deal!  The top I am wearing  can be found here.  I tried it both on and off the shoulders, it looks better off the shoulder but I’m ok either way. For size reference I am wearing a medium in the top.

Bottom line when it comes to shorts you should wear what you’re comfortable in. Don’t let age or anything else dictate what you wear. Every woman deserves to feel her best and when you’re confident and happy you are the prettiest, right? A short story is what’s in This Blonde’s Shopping Bag today, how do you like to wear you shorts?

Fashionably,
Kellyann
