Graduation parties, weddings, showers, awards ceremonies – any of those on your agenda? This time of year our calendars fill up and we’re left wondering what to wear. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a new outfit for every occasion? Unfortunately that’s not my reality. The dress I’m wearing today was purchased last year from T.J. Maxx. I had planned to wear it to a graduation party but when the time came I opted for shorts. I changed my plans once I found out that the party was a little more casual than I had thought. In retrospect I wish I’d worn the dress; it would have been cooler! By this time in May we are already experiencing muggy weather.
What attracted me to this dress was the cut but also the seersucker fabric and the detail down the front. It looked very “Lily Pulitzer-ish” to me but it was in my price range! Truth: I own a few Lily Pulitzer pieces. Second truth: they were all purchased at consignment shops!
Since the dress (similar) never made it’s debut last year I pulled it out this year to wear to our school’s awards ceremony. I present a few awards so I like to look nice. Normally I wear a black dress. Although I’m not sure why. Maybe it seems more formal? Who really knows but this year I decided to break with tradition and wear this simple seersucker shift dress (say that 3 times fast). I wore my new block heeled Vionics and kept my jewelry simple too. Both the dress and the shoes held up great. I had my son take these pictures at 6pm Thursday night. I had been dressed like this for 11 hours! I received several compliments not only on my dress but on my shoes as well. Incidentally this dress is so similar and at a very reasonable price!
Seersucker just screams Spring and Summer to me. It’s such a classic especially in blue and white. It would be terrific for Memorial Day as well depending on your plans.
I’m also happy to share with you that Nordstrom’s Half Yearly Sale is going on now through June 4. I’m so excited because my birthday plans include a trip to Nordstrom in Tampa (2 hours away – boo!). This weekend I’ll be putting together a shopping list of what I’d like to see at Nordstrom. You can shop the sale here. Also, Accessory Concierge is having a 30% off everything sale now through Monday! I LOVE their clutches, bracelets, and tassel necklaces!
Seersucker and comfortable heels are what’s in This Blonde’s Shopping Bag today, what’s in yours?
Fashionably,
Kellyann
