Red, White, and Blue Outfits

Welcome to this week’s edition of Thursday Fashion Files. With the unofficial start of summer just days away (Memorial Day for my USA friends) I am sharing red, white, and blue outfits.

Red, White, and Blue Outfits

Recently my local Loft has had an abundance of red, white, and blue pieces. Everything from shorts to dresses, casual to dressier there is literally something for everyone. When I’m looking for something to wear for a patriotic holiday I like to find things I can wear other times of the year that don’t necessarily scream holiday.

Quick note about sizing, I am including it as a point of reference to help you if you shop online. Loft is known for vanity sizing and I found these pieces to be true to that. My particular stats: I am 5 foot 3 1/2 inches, I am 122 ish pounds, and I am short waisted. If my store had a better inventory I would like to compare the sizing difference between regular and petite but the selection is very limited.

This red dress is a nice, thick ribbed knit. Not so thick that you’ll be hot but thick enough to smooth. It has a built in bra that blue my mind! Typically I am not a fan of a built in bra but this one is different. Some kind of elasticized magic fabric provides great support and smoothing. I’d still wear a bra with this but it provides some nice shaping. I’m wearing a size 2 in the dress.

You’ve see these red shorts before. The pockets on the front are a nice feature and I love the contrasting stitching. They look great with a light weight sweater, a tee or tank, or other blouse.

This is definitely my dress era! I have been so drawn to them for a number of reasons. Not only easy to wear – one and done! – but they are so much cooler. Cotton poplin is my favorite. I bought the longer white dress from Banana Republic Factory a few months ago.

This shorter white dress just screams summer to me! The cotton poplin is my favorite but this dress also has an under dress – or a slip dress. The nice thing is that it’s separate from the dress making it easier to put on. I think it’s pretty with just about any shoe. I’m wearing a small in the dress.

Continuing my dress theme, I found three blue options at Loft. The first you’ve seen before. I wore it on Saturday to my niece’s dance recital and got so many compliments. I absolutely adore this dress! I’m wearing a size 2 in the dress.

This chambray linen pocket shift dress is everything I love wrapped into one! The classic shift skims the body, it has pockets, and chambray and linen combine the best of both worlds. Loft had other pieces in this collection as well. I think these would be great for work during the hot summer months. I’m wearing a size 2 in the dress.

Made of cotton, modal, and spandex this short sleeve maxi dress feels so good on! It must be the modal because it has such an elevated feel – much nicer than a typical cotton tee shirt dress. I’m wearing a small in the dress, I would have liked to have tried it in a petite because this seems so long.

If you are more a skirt person versus a dress, than this cute one is for you! It’s a linen blend and the navy with contrasting white is so classic! I love the preppy vibe. I am wearing a size 2 in the skirt (Loft vanity sizing).

Do you find yourself wearing red, white, and blue outfits in the summer months? I do try to wear something festive to church and certainly any social events. Life is short, why not have fun?
