February has me thinking of Valentine’s Day and that has me thinking of pinks and reds and all the hearts! I remember how much fun it was to wear cute Valentine’s themed shirts when I worked in a brick and mortar school. But now, I find myself craving a more subtle way to participate in the Hallmark holiday of love, and this pink and black outfit idea is one of my favorite ways to do it.
Pink & Black Outfit Idea
As a long time lover of pink, combining it with black is not a stretch for me. In fact, my counseling office at my previous school was painted pink and I had lots of black accents (including a chandelier). It was dramatic and fabulous! On days when I wore pink and black back then, I looked just like my office!
The outfit I am sharing today started with my pink mock neck top, I mentioned it last week. The fabric is cotton and elastane (generic term for Lycra), meaning it isn’t clingy and hold it’s shape well. The top is timeless and a great piece for wearing alone or layering. In fact, I layered it under this top when I was in Nashville last week for added warmth.
My bootleg black pants from Express were easy to throw on with my heeled booties and a belt. But of course, everything is better with a blazer, right? This blazer is from Express and it is heavier and just a bit shorter than the other one I have.
Honestly, I love how easy a pink and black outfit is – almost like wearing white and black but the pink adds a different vibe. A bit more energy and certainly more joy when you love the color! I wore this out to dinner with friends on Monday night. I brought the blazer in case the restaurant was cold.
So, do you enjoy wearing pink and black together? I think it can be done in a sophisticated yet fun way. Let me know what you think in the comments below!
