Party Time!

Hi friends!

Holiday season is well under way and by now you’ve probably already made the rounds to a few parties.  Things like “Ugly Christmas Sweater” parties, happy hour, maybe even an ornament exchange or two have no doubt been attended.  But still to come are Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Hannukah, and New Year’s!  There are still so many great opportunities to get dressed up!

It’s funny that holiday wear was on my mind and then lo and behold a dear, sweet reader (Hi Lisa!) asked for some guidance with party clothes!  Yippeee! My first thought: someone’s actually reading the blog, lol!  My second thought: Get.On.It.Now. So now I bring you today’s post!

I have been sick for weeks and have not shot a single outfit.  Seriously two rounds of antibiotics for two different illnesses and I’m still not better. Being sick has certainly put a damper on my holiday plans but I’m leaving all that behind to focus on the fact that this is the last week of school before break and my older son is home from college #gogators.  So let the festivities begin!

The outfit I’ll be wearing for Christmas Eve was purchased online during Loft’s 50% off no minimum for free shipping sale.  My family gets together on both Christmas and Christmas Eve but since I host Christmas Day I usually go for something a little more casual.

So here’s what I’ll be wearing Christmas Eve from Loft, I actually linked two blouses but I purchased the off the shoulder blouse and I love it:

Guess what the best news is? Use code STYLEEVENT to get 40% off your purchase! So that’s my base outfit and now it’s time to add a little bling! Add these accessories to make the outfit pop!

Now any of those necklaces would be FABULOUS with an off the shoulder top. I tried to include a few different options depending on your comfort level. I realize that not everyone loves wearing a statement necklace so for you I’ve included the choker. It’s sleek and simple but makes a statement all it’s own. Another great option is to go for a statement earring and either do a delicate necklace or none at all. Here are a few great statement earrings:

Let’s talk footwear, shall we? I will probably wear my leopard heels because leopard is a neutral and adds just a little something that elevates your outfit, anyone can wear a black heel but why not wear something a little unexpected? In any case here are some shoes to peruse #rhyminglikeagangsta.

I am dying over the cuteness in those shoes! Here’s the thing, it is OKAY to wear a patterned shoe, especially if you are wearing solids elsewhere. Own it!

The right handbag makes a great accessory. It’s time to put away the everyday bag and grab something fun! Take a look!

So there you have it, one look for a holiday party featuring separates that can be mixed and matched with lots of other items you probably already own. Separates speak to me because of their versatility and I love the options they provide. In general I am usually more comfortable in pants.

Now if you’d rather wear a skirt here are a few suggestions.

Try a simple blouse with a statement necklace:

Wow, Loft really blew me away with all of those great blouses! Tie neck blouses don’t require a necklace and they are really having a moment right now. If you haven’t tried one before why not now?
The best tip for dressing for the holidays is to wear something you are comfortable in, that means your clothing fits well and you aren’t fussing with a hem line or neckline and the buttons are not pulling. Also keep in mind that a great look starts with a great foundation. Don’t overlook the importance of a great fitting bra and the right shapewear!

I hope this post inspires you to find and wear a terrific holiday outfit so when photos are taken you are smiling proudly!

Now let’s all say a little prayer that this post gets published without errors!

Holiday wear a little on the casual side is what’s in This Blonde’s Shopping Bag today! Let me know what you think, I’m all ears!

Fashionably yours,
Kellyann
