One Top Two Ways

I used to have a problem. I would buy an outfit and wear it the same way. Each and every single time. Yep, if I bought a blouse and pants together that’s how I wore it. I rarely mixed pieces. In my mind I categorized things and that’s how they stayed. Not that it’s a crime, and there are no self help books on the subject that I’m aware of. The problem is that you’ll end up with a very limited wardrobe and things might get, dare I say, boring? Let’s change that starting today, okay? Because today I’m sharing a top I recently purchased and I’ll show you two ways I plant to wear it. One for play and one for work!

I fell in love with this peplum tank and immediately started scheming ways to style it. Since I’ve changed my previous bad habits (mentioned above) I try to think of things I already own to pair something with before I invite it into my closet. In this case I knew I owned at least a few things but I also wanted to add a pair of pink shorts and so I bought these scalloped darlings in light pink. The old me would have categorized these two pieces as an outfit that should be worn together at all times but that’s not the case anymore!

So here’s the outfit as purchased. This peplum tank is terrific, not just because of the vibrant colors and print but also because of the fabric. It’s a linen blend so it won’t fade or pill as some cotton tops do. The scalloped shorts are great too. If you don’t own anything from J. Crew or J. Crew Factory you’re missing out, their pieces are classic and well made. They have frequent sales as well so NEVER pay full price!

Get ready for some crazy hair pictures.  The wind was blowing and it was hotter than hot when we took these.  With our afternoon and evening rain taking pictures for the blog has become super tricky so we’re taking them whenever we can.

I almost bought green shorts to go with this top but then I rememberedmy green pants (similar) and I knew they’d be perfect. The end result is an outfit that would be perfect for work, church, shopping, just about anything! I could easily add a jacket or cardigan to cover my arms. I am wearing my super comfortable Vionics . I cannot say enough about these shoes and how comfortable they are; if you have any kind of foot pain you should give these a try. They have a cushioned metatarsal pad which is why they are so good on my feet but they also keep your foot and ankle in proper alignment so they’re good for other issues too (plantar fasciitis anyone?).

Maybe you own a colorful top but you’ve been wearing it with the same old bottoms, why not shake things up and try something new? Buy pieces that offer possibilities and you’ll easily expand your wardrobe. One top two ways is what’s in This Blonde’s Shopping Bag today, what’s in yours?
