Mix and Match Fall Pieces

You know you have a good closet when you look into it and see possibilities rather than one hit wonders. For years, I had lots of stand alone items that only seemed to work in some circumstances and often left me frustrated. Now when I shop I look for pieces with staying power, like the outfit I am sharing today! When you can mix and match fall pieces to create multiple outfits your hard earned dollar is going farther and your cost per wear is pennies on the dollar.

Mix and Match Fall Pieces

In my opinion the most versatility comes from separates. The mix and match fall pieces I am sharing today are from Avara. I’m drawn to both quality and affordability of this chic and trendy boutique.

Charcoal Denim

Denim is the cornerstone of any casual fall outfit, but choose charcoal denim for a little extra interest. I love the unfinished hem on this pair because it allows you to cut to the correct length for you! It somehow seems easier on an unfinished hem – maybe less intimidating?

Printed Blouse

Choose a print you won’t tire of easily. I like a smaller print that’s more abstract. This makes the print more timeless in my mind. While it’s true I spend a lot more time looking at fashion than some, I bet most of remember when dog sweaters were all the rage a few years ago. Please note I am not at all saying you cannot enjoy a dog on your sweater, wear what you love!

This particular blouse has long sleeves with smocking at the wrist. This allows the sleeves to be worn long or pushed up. It will also layer well under a jacket or cardigan.

Neutral Sweater

A neutral sweater in a classic cut is a building block in your fall wardrobe. The Jackie sweater from Monday is so soft and fabulous. It not only works with denim but with trousers and leggings too. Great for layering or worn alone a neutral sweater is a must have!

Trousers

Select a trouser that looks best on you – maybe it’s a wide leg, maybe it’s a slimmer leg. There are so many options right now. You’ve seen me in these $20 pants so many times but that’s because they really go the distance. They also come in a total of 7 colorways just in case burgundy isn’t your thing.

Neutral Shoe

Depending on where you live, your fall neutral shoe may be a boot or mule – if you are in FL or some other hot climate than an open toed shoe can be a great option. This is all about comfort and what makes sense. This neutral shoe should work with each outfit.

This particular shoe is designer inspired. The horse bit detail across the top elevates the look of a basic mule and the heel height is actually walkable. While these may not be shoes I’d wear for a day of shopping – thanks to the foot issues I have – I wouldn’t think twice about wearing them to dinner, to watch football (yes, I am that girl), to a party, etc.

I hope this post inspires you to play in your closet, you probably have pieces you can mix and match in new ways to create fun fall outfits!
