Let’s Talk Lips

Friends, I have a confession – I have a lip product obsession! Today I thought I’d share what I’ve been buying lately and my thoughts on each product. I’m hoping you’ll share some of your faves as well!

In my opinion lipstick is a game changer – my lips are not naturally colorful so adding a little something makes all the difference. Not only am I always on the hunt for the perfect shade but I want one that wears well too.

First things first though. Like everything else good lips must be taken care of. I have been using this nightly lip mask and I really love it. Each morning when I was my face I wash my lips and feel the dead skin come off. It’s a gentle exfolliant you can use every day. I keep it on my nightstand and swipe it on – easy peasy!Lip Products

I have heard good things about Kylie Cosmetics so when I saw this mini two pack for $12 I thought why not. My thoughts: nope, not for me. The colors were too neutral and I was not impressed with the staying power. Disappointing for me.

I ordered two from Ulta by Bare Minerals. Boy Toy and IRL are both pretty and neutral. At less than $20 a pop they’re affordable. They wear okay – not all day of course and they are definitely glossy.

Now this one by Bare Minerals has me all kinds of excited! It is the perfect shade of red, called VIP. It’s matte so if you want you can add gloss to it. I am wearing it on my lips in this photo: Gibson Hi Sugarplum Rick Rack OTS Top and Ponte Skirt

NYX Powder Puff Lippie is affordable and feels so nice going on! I have the color PPL18 and it is definitely a bubble gum pink shade. You can see what it looks like on me here:Hot Pink Top and White Blazer

Not sure if you have tried any of the Milani products but they are affordable and so far so good with what I’ve ordered. I have this lipstick in Plumrose – it wears well and feels good on. At $5.99 it’s a steal!

My recommendation for a long wearing drug store lip color is this one by Maybelline. It feels good and lasts a long time – not sure it lasts 24 hours but it goes the distance!

One of my favorite shades lately has been Revlon’s Gold Pearl Plum. I found out about this from my friend Amy. She makes such great recommendations that I knew I’d love it and I do! It seems to sell out quickly though.

When I popped in Sephora to collect my birthday reward I tried the Charlotte Tilbury lipstick in “Pillow Talk”. It seems to be a universally flattering shade. I liked it but…I felt I needed more color so it was suggested I add a gloss. I liked that better but that combo was going to cost me almost $60! There was no way I was willing to fork out that much money for something I was absolutely in love with. I’m not ruling it out and may be willing to try the lipstick again when I have a gift card. Have you tried it yet?

On my radar next? I’d love to try Lipsense. I know it has gotten mixed reviews but I’d like to give it a go. What’s been holding me back is finding the right shade. I don’t really want to order it online the first time, I’d like to see it in person. So, we’ll see where that leads me in my search for the perfect lipstick!

One more thing before you go! Next week I hope you’ll join my friends and me for a fun Red, White,  Blue & You Link Up!
