July Closet Confessions

A new month means it’s time for a round up of last month’s purchases, otherwise known as Closet Confessions. Each month this year I am tracking my purchases and spilling all the details. I’m keeping a running total for the year in hopes that I’ll make wiser choices. The goal is to create a closet full of clothes I love wearing and will no longer look at an overstuffed closet and think I have nothing to wear.
Macy’s 4th of July Sale
Macy’s 4th of July sale along with Star Rewards allowed me to score a great deal on these wide leg pants and ribbed tank. These pieces are from the INC line. I believe these were a good purchase as they’re a set (sold separately) but can be mixed and matched with other wardrobe pieces. The neutral color goes with everything. Total spent $70.00 (I had Star Rewards to cash in and the pieces were on sale).

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Buys
I purchased only three pieces from the infamous #NSale. I always purchase a pair of my favorite underwear and my go to bra. This blazer caught my eye and will be a great staple for my fall and winter wardrobe. I love the colors in the plaid and it fits well. Total spent $153.14.

Chico’s Semi Annual Sale
Right on the heels of the #NSale came the Chico’s Semi Annual Sale. This sale gave me a chance to replace white shorts and white jeans. I’ve been eyeing the No-Stain line at Chico’s so when they went on sale I took the plunge. Total spent at Chico’s $104.37.

I purchased the No-Stain Girlfriend Crops and No Stain Pull On Shorts (first shared here). Chico’s makes great, quality pieces and I really enjoy adding these basics to my closet at a better price!
Amazon Clothing Purchases
I bought two items from Amazon in July. This oversized white button down (you can never have too many) is lightweight and washes up like a dream. I was impressed that it didn’t need to be ironed after washing! It comes in many other colors and I have my eye on another. Total spent $23.42.

The black sundress was a favorite purchase. I’ve worn it several times already which is always the sign of a good purchase. Total for the dress $27.67.

I’m really learning to be more discerning when it comes to Amazon clothes. I fell into the trap of fast fashion and got caught up in all the hype. Instead I’m really evaluating the purchase and the quality of the item. Certain brands are better than others and I’m paying closer attention before I commit.
One Pre-Loved Item
While vacationing at the beach we shopped in a high end consignment shop. This shop has lots of luxury brand items and while I wasn’t in the market for anything in particular, I did find a fabulous pair of slacks. They were $40.00.
Total Spent
I felt like I did very well this month, my total was $418.60. My total for the year is $ 2645.80. If you’re interested in seeing previous months’ purchases, take a look at June, May, April, March, February, and January. It might seem like a lot but I am trying to learn and keep track in order to be more discerning.
I hope you enjoyed reading this post and this series! Do you track your spending?
