Maybe it’s because I live in a place that doesn’t snow but I just love bright colors when it gets cold! Ever wonder how to do it? Well good. Today I’m going to show you how to wear bright colors in winter and I promise the fashion police will not be dispatched!
It all started with this Barbie t-shirt from Target. It’s in the men’s department btw! I saw it on Instagram and had to have it. FYI I have a fondness for Barbie and Blondie too. Sidenote: I am still searching for a Blondie tee! But I digress, when it arrived I couldn’t wait to wear it. I styled it three ways to show you that yes, you can wear bright colors in winter!
The easiest way to wear brights in winter is to ground them with a darker color. Since this is a graphic tee it seems easy to throw on jeans and a moto jacket (affordable options here, here, andhere). My wedge sneakers (similar) keep my feet warm and add a little height. I love this style of sneaker – it’s all the casual goodness of a sneaker but the benefit of heel!
Since jeans were the easiest way to go I decided to take it up a notch on my second attempt. I grabbed my black cropped pants (option, option) and my Jambu Rimini booties. Since it’s winter I needed a cardigan (option) – why not a bright one?
Finally, my favorite! I love this tee with my white dress pants (option) and white booties. Topping it off with my hot pink cardi brought a big smile to my face! While this may be too bold or not climate friendly where you live, here in Orlando it works perfectly!
Some things I get kept on in all three looks include a pastel statement necklace (option) that is several years old as well as my Kendra Scott cuff and Kendra Scott Edie bracelet (I wear these two every day) I decided to forego earrings, I didn’t want to be too flashy, lol! I am also wearing some hot pink stretch bracelets from BaubleBar (option) I bought several years ago. Why not pull out all the bright accessories?!
So what do you think? Does dreary weather have you craving bright colors? Are you hesitant to reach for bright colors in winter? I hope you’ll re-think that notion because you are missing out. Colors can be worn any time of the year and I hope you are inspired to do so. If you have a favorite piece but you think the color is wrong for the time of year think again. You CAN wear bright colors in winter!
