With less than 2 weeks until Christmas I hope this finds you happy and full of joy! When The Blended Blog prompt was announced – wear something that makes you happy I knew exactly what color I’d wear! Pink! Now let’s get real – clothes don’t make you happy, in fact nothing can make you happy – it’s a feeling you choose. Now I’ll take my mental health counselor cap off and resume my role here as a blogger. While happiness is an inside job there are some clothes or colors that I can’t help but feel good when I’m wearing!
I wore this outfit on Sunday to do a little shopping with my husband. Whenever Macy’s has their Friends and Family sale my husband heads to the mall with me to grab some new clothes. Hard to believe I bought NOTHING for myself. This has me only slightly concerned, lol. Perhaps I am finally growing up and becoming more discerning?
I chose this outfit because I realized I had not worn my Love sweater since February. Is Love only appropriate at Valentine’s? I think not. So I wore it. I also pulled out an old Hollister plaid shirt. I simply love the colors but this shirt is really ready to be retired. It’s either shrinking or I’m getting bigger (I’m going with the darn thing shrinking).
My jeans are old too – they’re from Loft and more of a trouser jean. So comfortable and I really like the dark wash. How can I not feel happy in comfortable jeans? On top of that I was able to wear my flat booties so my feel definitely felt happy!
I normally gravitate towards heels and my first choice was my open toe booties. However, I started to doubt that decision when I contemplated perusing around the mall. I had to visit Sephora as well as the Sephora store inside JCPenney so I’d be doing a fair amount of clomping around the mall. I have also decided that I am not a graceful walker so clomping is a more accurate description. My feet would probably hurt less if I walked a little lighter but I walk fast and hard. I am also carrying one of my very favorite bags.
In any case I was happy at the mall and then later at the grocery store. Gosh, I hope you aren’t too envious of my exciting life. I mean, I know not everyone can just jet off to the mall and the grocery store on a random Sunday afternoon. What can I say? I’m blessed. And humble. Ha!
What colors or clothes do you feel when you choose happiness? Our clothes convey a feeling so when I get dressed I try to choose clothes that say something about me and how I am feeling. Do you do that? Do you enjoy choosing your outfits? Tell me!
