Friday Favorites - So Much Celebrating

I sure wish I could turn back the hands of time to last Friday! This past week has been one filled with lots of celebrating and I am sorry to see it end. Especially since our older son flew back to Philly yesterday – boo! Luckily we had a wonderful time during his visit and many happy memories were made.

So Much Celebrating

I mentioned last Friday that my husband retired on June 30. He has worked as a software engineer for many years but the last 27 were with Fed Ex. We’ve been planning his retirement for over a year and it was nice to see it all go as planned. I kept asking him how he’d like to mark the occasion and he finally decided he’d like a party. We hosted about 47 people on Saturday night and had such a great time. I looked around at our home filled with friends and family and felt so truly blessed. Everyone was happy, chatting up a storm, and enjoying great food and drink.

We realized that with the exception of two people, our whole wedding party was present! We had to re-create our photo from 1994. How blessed are we to still have these incredible people in our lives all these years later?

We also had to re-create this one – one of my best friends and her fiance caught the bouquet and garter. They were married just a month after us!

On Sunday we recovered from the party by sleeping in and then headed to dinner with friends. My husband and these two friends went to college together. The one friend lives in PA (the Pittsburg area) and he and his wife were in town. Worked out so well that they were here for the party!

Monday – Wednesday we booked a place at New Smyrna Beach. Our younger son, Collin, starts his job in a few short weeks. Luckily he accepted a position here in Orlando. His girlfriend came to have dinner with us on Tuesday night. The Garlic is a great restaurant in NSB and they have a really fun and quirky atmosphere. We took these silly photos after dinner. So many laughs and so much to celebrate – life is good right now and I don’t want to forget that.

This is random, but I wore this outfit last week and loved it. I didn’t realize until later that it must have been Jill’s outfit here that inspired me!

We’ve got no plans this weekend but after so much celebrating last weekend, we probably need a little down time. I wish for you a wonderful weekend as well. You may not have a lot of celebrating to do but maybe it’s a good reminder to celebrate even the small things. Life is so precious, let’s make every moment something special.
