The days are just flying by and here we are in the middle of May! This week’s Friday Favorites is all about things that bring joy to my life and make it better. Seems like a good requirement if I’m calling something a favorite, right?
Friday Favorites May 16
On Sunday we celebrated Mother’s Day. Started the day at the early service at church and then spent the afternoon at my sister’s house. I am grateful that my mom is still in my life and in good health. Funny story about my mom she loves pictures and we jokingly credit her with being the original inventor of photoshop! Years ago she started ‘adding people’ to photos. Example – she took a photo of my husband and I from when we were first married and added our newborn son. She literally cut the picture of him out and glued it in! It looks ridiculous of course but that’s who she is. She’s done other things over the years and I just shake my head. Since she only had two grandchildren with her on Mother’s Day we had our son leave room so she could add in photos of the others! I texted them this picture and of course they all laughed! Bwahahahahahaha!!!
I know it means everything to my mother to have her 3 children with her on Mother’s Day! I am the middle child, my sister is 5 years older and my brother is 4 years younger.
The dress I bought last month is a favorite! I was hesitant to buy it at first but my husband really liked it. I have to say when I am wearing it I feel amazing. It really is such a great dress and one I will keep for years. So, yes, it was more than a similar style I could probably get from Amazon but you get what you pay for and this one is so well made and the fit is perfect!
Something else that has been a favorite for a long time, my denim jacket from Walmart! I bought mine last year or the year before and thought it wasn’t coming back. I was wrong – it’s back! This jacket looks so much more expensive and has the slight puff at the shoulder. It also comes in white. Do yourself a favor and get it – you cannot go wrong.
I bought a new hand cream from Amazon. So far, so good. I like that it is moisturizing but not greasy. It has Vitamins A + C + E and is supposed to help soften fine lines. It has to be better than what I was using (nothing BTW).
Sometimes I get so confused about what I’ve shared where, I get all turned around. Anyway…I had a closet system installed and it has made my life SO MUCH BETTER. Listen, I am not living in the home of my dreams and I never thought this was my forever home but what did 28 year old me know? My closet was more dysfunctional than some of the reality tv families. I used a company through Costco and I could not be happier. I will write a post on it later but when I think of what brings me joy each day, it’s this. This right here.
While I am at it, this was my favorite outfit this week. I mean, come on, pink pants? My favorite new vest? This was a no-brainer and I loved wearing it all day Wednesday! My pink pants/jeans can be found here and use my code KELLYANN10 to save.
So, as we head into the weekend, I hope you are filled with joy and have some pep in your step. If not, I hope you will find it. If we can focus on finding something positive and good each day, despite the not so fun stuff, the quality of our lives will improve. I’ve got several heavy, un-fun things happening right now but I am determined to keep fear and anxiety at bay and choose to relish in the joy that exists in each day. I cannot apologize for who I am, the eternal optimist.
