Hey June, nice to see you! Today just happens to be my last Friday as a 54 year old – tomorrow is my birthday. Fridays are always a favorite but especially this one because I am off today! My husband and I are headed to a local resort for a little staycation and our sons will join us tomorrow. When I think of turning 55 I cannot get the Sammy Hagar song out of my head – remember “I Can’t Drive 55?”
Funny little story, my first car was a 1977 Camaro. The air did not work – so my brother in law’s father used to tease me and tell everyone my car had 260 air conditioning. What was that? It was what he called 2 windows down and driving 60 MPH – basically the only way to get cool!
Friday Favorites – Hey June!
Birthdays are a favorite – I don’t mind one bit getting older. I really don’t. But it does make me realize that I MUST make things happen – time is of the essence! I am still trying to figure out what I want to do when I grow up, you know, what is it that I really would like to be doing? The even better question, will I have the courage to do it and make it happen? These are the things I ponder as I close the book on 54 and usher in 55. Another point to ponder? If I join AARP will I get great discounts on things I like???
How I’m Ushering in 55
I’ll be headed to the nail salon for a pedicure (and maybe a mani) this morning. My next stop will be a spray tan. Then my husband and I will head to the resort. He booked a 90 minute facial for me – will I have a new face or what? Tonight we have a reservation at the bougie steak house at the resort! I can hardly wait!
We will get to sleep in – no dog waking us up!!! My husband reserved a cabana at the pool and the boys will meet us to spend the day poolside. We’ll have a casual dinner, play some cards and call it a night! The boys have rooms at the resort for Saturday night and we’ll all head home on Sunday.
That’s how I’ll celebrate this year. I am looking forward to a fun weekend with the people I love!
Favorites from Last Weekend
Last weekend my best friend brought me a very special birthday cake! We celebrated a week early – why not, right? This cake came from Gideon’s Bakehouse and it was not only HUGE but delicious. The flavor? Cookie butter. I felt so very special!
We celebrated my niece and nephew last weekend with a combined graduation party. I wore this cute dress and got so many compliments! I wore a hate because I was having a bad hair day!
Lately I feel like I have not had much time to read, which is a shame because I love reading. I did finish reading “I’ll Stop the World” by Lauren Thoman. It was a freebie on Kindle and it was so good! I highly recommend!
We managed to watch the movie “Air” on Prime last weekend as well. To be honest, I never wanted to see it but boy am I glad I did! The movie was excellent and stars Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Jason Bateman and my favorite: Viola Davis! It’s the story of how Nike created the Air Jordan. Watch it!!
What I’ve Been Wearing
I had some fun this week shopping my closet. By scrolling my Pinterest, I was inspired to re-create a few looks and I think they turned out pretty good.
Thrilled to wear my new vest – this inspiration photo caught my eye because I had all the pieces needed to re-create it!
I wore this outfit on Thursday – my linen joggers replaced the white denim from the inspo photo and I swapped my sandals for the sneakers.
