Friday Favorites – Hello August!

Almost a week into August and next week school starts in my neck of the woods. Even though I no longer have kids in school, the public school calendar seems to set the tone for seasons – rather than the actual calendar. My younger son will be headed back to UF in a few weeks to start his senior year – y’all college flies by!

This week I feel the pull between dressing for the current season but yearning for the next (Summer – Fall officially begins Sept. 22) . I was delighted to find lightweight pieces in Fall colors at Target. For those of us in the south, this is how we do it!

This dress is perfection! Comes in 3 colorways and has pockets. It’s a great length – no tripping over a too-long skirt and works well with heels or flats. It can be worn off the shoulder as well. I am wearing it in a size small – it fits TTS.

I’m also loving my new shoes! These came the other day from Amazon. I had to wait awhile for them to come in – they were on back order but they were worth the wait. This style is so trendy. These have a square toe (also on trend) and the heel height is good. Best of all? They are in fact comfortable! I ordered my normal size 9 and they fit perfectly.

This top is another favorite. It was on a mannequin at Target and I literally walked all over the women’s clothing department to try and find it. Only a few were left and the smallest size was a large. I bought it because the heart wants what the heart wants, right?

Necklace

Yesterday I threw together this little ensemble. I was planning to go to a carnival at my 5 year old niece’s preschool but never made it. I was dressed for it though! These Lou & Grey shorts are super soft and of course the color is right up my alley. The gauzy button up is currently on clearance but you’ll need to check in store as it appears to be sold out online. I added my Gibby’s Frillery headscarf. I feel so elegant in this headscarf even if I am wearing sneakers!

Since I was planning to be traipsing around in mulch I chose close toed shoes. These are still a favorite and I am wearing them with a pair of Sheecsocks. You can’t see them though because they are doing their job and remaining hidden!

My Half Tee (not an affiliate link) arrived and I could hardly wait to try it out. I had resisted the temptation to purchase one for a few years – just like I resisted the temptation to buy Sheecsocks. Turns out I was silly to have waited to buy both because they are fabulous. Thank you Jodie – you NEVER steer me wrong!

I am wearing the cap sleeve Half Tee in a size small. I’ve already ordered two others in different styles. If you are looking for a little extra coverage or a great way to wear some of your sundresses and tank tops into fall – check out Half Tee. No extra bulk around the middle and they are comfortable and cool.

One last thing – Soma is having the best sale on panties! Right now they are 10/$40 and that is a DEAL! I love these! Definitely worth checking out but it ends TODAY so act fast!

That wraps it up for this week. I have zero weekend plans and our best friends are tied up this weekend with family in town. So, looks like pretty chill weekend. I am absolutely fine with that since I was gone all last weekend and I love being at home. We may just get crazy and go to church on Saturday night – we sometimes get wild and crazy like that!

Do you have any plans? I hope you make time to take care of yourself and do something that nourishes your soul. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for visiting me today – it means the world to me!
