Friday Favorites - December 6

This week’s Friday Favorites is almost a recap of last week! Since I travelled last year over the Thanksgiving holiday, this one was extra sweet! BTW, I will NEVER travel again without my children over a holiday. There is just something extra special about the Thanksgiving weekend – everyone is happy and excited, and all the festivities seem to kick off!

Friday Favorites – December 6

This Thanksgiving was unlike others because I hosted and my sister and brother were not there! My sister and her family were in Nashville helping my nephew find a place to live – he took a post doc at Vanderbilt. My brother and his family were with my sister in law’s side. We still had 15 of us because my husband’s brother and his sons joined us along with my precious Emma’s grandfather and grandmother. They live in Eustis, FL and we invited them to join us.

You might find it hard to believe but I roasted my first turkey! While I’ve hosted in years past, my mother always made the turkey. I did it this year and it turned out great! Not nearly as scary as I thought. All the horror stories had me concerned but it was delicious!

This could in fact be my biggest accomplishment this year!

On Friday Emma and I got pedicures and then did some shopping – aside from some body lotion, we bought nothing! It was so much fun! Not having a daughter of my own, I really enjoyed having the time with Emma. She is just so precious and we just talked non-stop.

Afterwards we went to downtown Sanford and had dinner. We stopped in some shops and then headed home. A cold front was coming in and it got so chilly! We ended the night by playing Phase 10.

Our younger son was home but is so swamped with work that he could not come with us for dinner. Later that night he and my nephew (who was in town from Mobile) went to a bonfire. I loved getting to see my sweet nephew – definitely a favorite from the weekend!

On Saturday we went to downtown Winter Park and enjoyed shopping and lunch at one of my favorite spots! Then we headed home because we had friends coming over to watch the Florida/Florida State game. We had such a great night and celebrated a Gator win! My friend is one of my oldest and dearest – we were sorority sisters and she is like family. Her son is at UF and you know my sons both graduated from there, my niece and nephews are Gators and of course Emma got her PhD there last December. So it was a big game for us all!

By Sunday we all needed a day to relax and we did. I made a roast beef for dinner and we enjoyed one another’s company. Then it was back to real life on Monday – the kids flew back to Philly on Tuesday night.

Favorite Black Friday Buys

Did you do any shopping on Black Friday? I bought this puffer coat, Air Essentials from Spanx, and these gold jeans. You know that if you read yesterday’s post! I bought a pair of shoes from Dolce Vita and they haven’t come in yet and neither has my order from Spanx. Gosh I am spoiled by two day shipping from Amazon and Walmart!

Avara Sale 50% off Holiday!!!

Today through Sunday, Avara has 50% off their entire Holiday Collection and 50% off their sale items too! Shop the holiday collection here and the sale section here. You have seen this glittery little jacket before, gosh I love it!

That wraps it up for this week! Looking back at last week was fun and brings me so much joy – thanks for hanging in and suffering through all the photos!
