Friday Favorites #95

Sometimes the struggle is real coming up with a title for a post. That’s not typical on a Friday generally speaking but this week, yeah, it’s a stretch. If you’re a regular reader you know what I’m talking about and you also know my mission is always to find the good. So join me for this week’s search for the good.

First of all, thank you from the bottom of my heart for the love, support, and kindness you all poured onto me when I shared the tragic loss of my precious niece. If anything good can come from this loss I hope it’s that addiction is in fact an illness, not a choice. The stigma attached to it prevents us from talking openly about struggles and impedes treatment.

My sister with my nephew and niece in May.

My niece danced from the time she was 3 years old, won many titles, including Miss Dance of Florida, and traveled all over the world. The dance studio she was affiliated with set up a memorial scholarship fund in her name. This scholarship will help those who wish to pursue a dance career but may not have the financial means do so. One of Ashley’s dance teachers said he did not teacher her to dance because she was born to dance. Go here if you’d like to donate! Thank you to those of you who already have, it warms my heart!

My older son came home last weekend to spend some time with us and it was so nice to have him home. Family is so important and definitely a favorite!

Having this guy home was a favorite!

I find myself once again grieving and I will say distraction is what helps me get through each day. This week my school had our annual in-service training. Working virtually is wonderful but getting to see my co-workers in person is definitely a favorite! We had a team dinner on Tuesday night and I so enjoyed the fun and fellowship.

Sleepless nights are made better when I have a good book to curl up with! I had requested “Ask Again, Yes” from my library and lo and behold it arrived at the perfect time. I read it last weekend. I highly recommend!

I brought dinner to my sister and her family last weekend and I made Shelly’s Meme’s Chocolate Cookies. It’s the 2nd time I’ve made them since returning from Austin. They are so delicious and would be terrific for your holiday baking!

Do yourself a favor and make these cookies!

Well, that about wraps it up for me this week. As usual I am linking up with Narci, Andrea, and Erika for Friday Favorites! Friday Favorites
