Friday Favorites #86

What a week! The days have all blended together thanks to Hurricane Dorian. Those of us in Florida have put our lives on hold as this slow moving beast of a storm threatened all kinds of damage. We were spared after days of waiting and preparing but it was a tense couple of days for sure. As with most things there were all kinds of funny giphs about the storm – this was my favorite!

Prepping for a storm is no fun. The days leading up to it are filled with all kinds of anxiety as we listen to weather reports and updates. Gas stations were running out of gas as people filled their cars and got extra gas for generators. This made me want to stay close to home – how could we be wasteful with gas when there might not be any? I have been through enough hurricanes to know not to panic but to be prepared. I chuckled when I saw this on IG from WW. It’s easy to stay home and stress eat, that’s well and good while the storm looms but once it passes, well, it’s another story!

I took advantage of good weather over the long weekend and walked outside. It’s easy to log several miles and walk for an hour as long as I have something good to listen to! For me it’s a podcast. I enjoy true crime podcasts – it’s like listening to a book and it’s free! In the last two weeks I’ve enjoyed Culpable and 22 Hours. Do you have any favorite podcasts?

On Saturday I visited my library to return two books I had delivered. Both were good but I especially liked The Heart’s Invisible Furies. I highly recommend!

Stuck in the house for days on end would normally be pretty dangerous for me and my shopping habit. Since I’ve decided to fall in love with what I already own I am happy to report I did not shop the Labor Day sales. However, beauty products are a different story since they are the things that need to be replenished. Ulta is currently having their 21 Days of Beauty event. If you are a Platinum or Diamond member then you get free shipping just by ordering the daily special! I have a new favorite shampoo  and ordered it as well as my favorite top coat.  The shampoo and conditioner are on special – buy 2 get one free!

Speaking of nails, if you’re an OPI lover you need to check out this website – polishpick.com.  This is not an affiliate link btw just a secret too good not to share! OPI colors for as little as $5 a bottle and they are the newest colors, yes please! I ordered a few colors from the new Scotland Collection. I figured since I will be visiting Scotland in less than a month it would be fun to have some of these colors! I have Good Girls Gone Plaid and Boys Be Thistle-ing at Me also pictured Edinburg-er and Tatties (that one belongs to my friend). You will pay shipping so I recommend you combine orders with a friend – such a steal!OPI Scotland

On Tuesday I joined my Ageless Style sisters for a fun prompt – “Unexpected” I wore my red dress and it seemed to get great reviews. Do you remember when I first purchased it back in April? You can see that post here. It was completely unexpected to take my summer dress and layer it in a way that made it more fall/winter appropriate!  Red Dress + Black Turtleneck
