Friday Favorites are always among my favorite posts to read on other bloggers sites. Maybe it’s the round up of ideas without a common theme or maybe it’s because I just love getting a peak into someone else’s world but I am hooked. So when I sit down to write my own I always hope to deliver something you’ll find both useful and entertaining. You know what else you mind find useful? I have changed my commenting section (finally!) so now your comments will appear automatically and not need approval from me. Thank goodness my son was home and able to help me – I swear technology is not my friend sometimes, said the virtual school guidance counselor – ha!
Favorite #1 On Christmas Day my dad was able to give my mother a locket he picked out when he went shopping with his sons in law and grandsons. Not just any locket, this one will hold his ashes. I should say this was a happy time for us, my parents had talked about wanting a locket like this and for my mom, knowing my dad chose it makes it even more special. My son Nolan and I had scouted out a few jewelry stores in search of a locket so my dad was able to choose from a selection at one store rather than traipsing in and out of multiple stores.
Favorite #2 On New Year’s Eve I was chatting with my best friend’s daughter about cosmetics. I love talking to the twenty somethings about beauty! Madison shared this great product from Sephora. Have you ever heard of The Make Up Eraser? I think it’s genius! I had been using Neutrogena make up wipes but I love the idea of using something that’s reusable and effective! Perhaps the best part is that it only requires warm water! No chemicals necessary. I am sold! You can also get it on Amazon here!
Favorite #3 I have been making this Curry salad dressing for years! I originally found it in my 2007 Southern Living Annual Cookbook. Every time I’ve made it it always gets rave reviews! It’s so easy too. I have to thank Lisa for helping me find it this year – I got rid of my cookbooks last year and forgot to save a copy of this recipe! Here it is for you to try and enjoy, it’s sweet and savory!
Favorite #4 Speaking of recipes, I made these chocolate peanut butter bars a few days after Christmas to take to a dinner we were invited to. They were so good and so easy! No baking required! They were on Tracy Hensel’s Instagram Live.
Ingredients: 1 C butter melted, 2 C graham cracker crumbs, 2 C confectioners sugar, 1 C and 4 tbs peanut butter (divided), 1 12 oz package semisweet chocolate chips.
Mix the melted butter, graham cracker crumbs, confectioner’s sugar and 1 C peanut butter together. Pour it into a 9 x 13 pan and pat down. Then add the 4 Tbs peanut butter and bag of chocolate chips to a bowl and microwave until melted and smooth. Pour over peanut butter/ graham cracker mixture and refrigerate for several hours or overnight. Cut and enjoy! YUM!!!
Favorite #5 Over the holiday break I did a lot of reading. One of my very favorite books was Verity. I read it in two days, I literally could not put it down!
Favorite #6 We have been watching a new Bravo mini series called Dirty John. Y’all it is so good! My husband likes it too. Eric Bana and Connie Britton are the stars. She is so beautiful and he plays such a great bad guy. I highly recommend it! Check out the series here.
Favorite purchases over the last two weeks! I had some Old Navy rewards cash and used it to get a few things I had my eye on. First up is this puffer vest. It kept going in and out of stock in the white color I wanted but I stalked it like a bad Lifetime movie and got lucky! I plan on having it monogrammed. Now all I need is for it to get cold so I can wear it! I needed to replace my black and white gingham shirt and grabbed this one. It says “Love” on the front pocket – how sweet! I bought a silver glitter clutch that I am over the moon excited about. It is large enough to carry what I need and I love the wrist strap. The quality is so good and the price is fantastic! This one is similar. Yesterday I took my boys shopping and we stopped in American Eagle. I fell for this hot pink sweater. It was on clearance and too good to pass up.
So that rounds up what’s been making my heart go pitter patter lately, how about you? Any good shows or books? Join The Blended Blog on Monday for our first edition of TBB Asks for 2019, the topic is Keep Me Entertained!
Thanks for stopping by today and I wish you the very best weekend. My boys are headed back to school on Saturday night and I will miss having them home for sure but I have a feeling they’ll be anxious to get back to their routine. I am always sad to see the holidays come to a close but I do like getting back to my normal every day routine, how about you?
